      Username should be oscar-the-grouch🤣

      Luckily have stores 2.5 & 4k away.
      Reminder set ⏰
      Will be visiting both🍩🍩

Received lots of FREE 🍩 & ☕ as an app member. See past Deals

      • They must be really good cinnamon doughnuts to travel 4km for one.

Went to one of these as I was in the centre at the time. Tasted like it was taken out of a Woolies pack lol, wasn't even worth walking 100m for it. Did I just go to a shit franchise?

        • +1

Love them - always freshly made in front of me at both local DK in shopping centres. I get 2 free with a coffee purchase, as a treat.

Can't stand taste of cold supermarket cinnis! Haven't bought in years.

Same express Free bus goes to both local shopping centres. (Need to go there to buy groceries) So no cost or much extra time… except to enjoy 2 FREE cinnis.

          So why not😉

          • @INFIDEL: Are boston doughnuts any good?

    • +4

You could take that time to walk over?

  • +3

Added to my calendar. Love me a hot cinni from Donut King!

    • +3

I have never heard of them called a cinni

      • I eat cinnis on the day day. Goes well with my milkkie and cofcof

      • Like other abbreviations (eg Parmi / Parma) - different use in different regions.
Those terms are often hotly debated between regions & here.

DK is based on Gold Coast🌞
Growing up in Qld we used the term "cinni".
        DK promotes its "cinni boxes".

  • Stores usually display pink sign saying free cinnamon donut🍩 Or ask before ordering.

*May not be available at all DK stores
There are 2 types of stores under different ownership.
Some don't participate. My nearest changed ownership recently & now participates in all DK offers. Had packets of free 🍩 to celebrate🎉

  • National Doughnut Day Deals 🍩
    More offers will be added.

  • Why are there no DK stores anywhere near Melbourne CBD? :(

    • Likely too much competition from other (better) donut stores near CBD.
DK is a Qld based franchise business mainly operating small kiosks in shopping centres.

*National Donut Day offers from other operators will be added closer to the date!

  • The greatest day of the year!

  • +2

Homer? Who is Homer? My name is Guy Incognito!

  • Sorry if it's a dumb question, but are these vegan?

    • Nutrition Page would suggest not. Contains egg & milk in the batter.

      • Thanks!

        • Krispy Kreme claim to have some Vegan donuts. Along with specialist donut shops. Best to ask about ingredients first!

  • DK LOCATIONS
    *not all may be participating

Suggested in previous years we do a pub donut crawl between different donut stores😋

  • I sure cannot wait for my local franchise to grease me off when I ask for one of these.

    • Yep. I haven't had great experiences at DKs.

    • As suggested… First Check if displaying pink free donut sign, or ask Local DK puts up sign days ahead.
2 types of DK ownership, older group doesn't participate. All do near me.

Never been rejected over years of free donuts😉

Let's see how they react to me and the (4) kids then. 🤣

      (Didn't check my birthday ID)

  • whats cinnis?

    • -1

As in Deal Title: Hot Cinnamon Donut
      Use of term discussed above

      • +1

who calls a Cinnamon donut a cinnie?

        • Many do! Donut King do. I do…
          You just did😀

          • -1

@INFIDEL: i have never called them that (aside from above) it just sounds tooo close to a ciggie.

            • @sandman20104159: Many people abbreviate words in common usage.

As in ciggie😉 Not that I've used it.

Like Parmi / Parma instead of Parmigiana. Usage & abbreviation is different in different regions.

DK is Qld based. Growing up in Qld, many used the term. But those were the only donuts available back then.

DK use the term in their business for marketing purposes, to distinguish them from stores that only sell frosted & iced donuts🍩

Of course - it's your choice!

              • -1

                @INFIDEL: whats DK?

i only buy from Krispy Kreme as they are nice donuts, the rest are crap.

                • @sandman20104159: I prefer freshly made HOT cinnis with my coffee☕

Cinnis are made in front of you @DK, unlike other donut places!
They're the traditional hot donut rolled in cinnamon sugar. I grew up eating them.

DK = Donut King - as in this Deal.

As you prefer KK - those aren't cinnis!
Not hot. Not satisfying for me.
Can't remember last time I bought KK!
Only go there for the freebies.

Now you can try a free cinni😉

                  • @INFIDEL: the best cinnamon donuts are at Perisher Valley train station think they are called lil orbits. they are the best i have ever had!

                    • @sandman20104159: A very expensive trip💰 for a likely expensive cinni😂

Will take the far cheaper & quicker option:
This Deal is for 1 free cinni (per store)😉
15min 🚍 to DK store costs me 50c max

              • @INFIDEL: Must be a FNQ expression…

        • who calls a Cinnamon donut a cinnie?

          Obviously not you…

That's what staff making hot cinnamon donuts in Brisbane called them when I was young. My favorite treat.
So I've used the term ever since. Eating them takes me back to that simpler time😊

i only buy from Krispy Kreme as they are nice donuts, the rest are crap.

We adopt shortened terms like cinni, for things we enjoy & frequently buy.

As you hate hot cinnamon donuts - only eating KK, how would you know what a cinni is🤔

Same as I didn't know what a Parmi / Parma was as I don't eat big cheap Parmigiana served in pubs. Learnt about it on Ozbargain. Still don't eat it. There are so many better foods😉

          • @INFIDEL: i bought cinnamon donuts from them once and it was very soggy and very plain in taste, plus the staff were annoying and kidults that just seem like its a hassle to even work there so i have never been back. the best cinnamon donuts are lil orbits at the perisher train station, and then Krispy Kreme also have cinnamon donuts tooo and are nice aswell.

            • @sandman20104159: Thanks. Didn't know KK sells $3.80 Cinnamon Donuts!
Not a fan of KK glazed donuts.

              Will try one day…
DKs are very close for me. KK is a 20k trip.

Plus get FREE DK hot cinnis all the time (when buy coffee, or offer in app).
Freshly made in front of me. Tasty.
All staff @DK are great at my local stores.

              Things change…
Local store with unhelpful staff & poor donuts changed owners recently. Now enthusiastic staff & good donuts. Met the Supervisor from Gold Coast Head Office - ensuring they keep up the good work.

              • -1

@INFIDEL: ummm 7-11 sells Krispy Kreme… thats where i get mine from.

you can keep supporting donut king, i really dont care. all im saying is their donuts are shit.

                • @sandman20104159: Unlike you, I accept free donuts with thanks😊

                  If you can't read…
This Deal is for FREE DONUTS👍

NOT where to buy donuts at FULL PRICE, that have been sitting there for up to 24 hours😜 So irrelevant in this Deal.

7-Eleven may be convenient, but is about the worst place to buy fresh donuts!!

Only get them freshly baked in larger KK stores - if the "Hot Now" light is on.
(Used to see long queues outside stores overseas attracted by the light & free samples. Don't know if still exists as never seen it in small local stores.)

Truck with KK stock only arrive at local 7-Eleven stores just after midnight. Who knows how long it takes from the factory! As I've commented in a Deal.
Staff used to give me those stale donuts free in afternoons😉

As I have stated above, I have not bought KK glazed donuts (in many years), & am certainly not a fan of them.
Only get them when free (birthday & promotions). Hardly notice them as mainly air. Not tempted to pay for them!

I commented above, there are 2 different ownership of DK stores, with very different quality of service & products.
The stores participating in this Deal (displaying pink Free Donut signs) are the ones with far better donuts & service.
My older local store had crap donuts & service. It has completely changed a few months with new happy staff, great hot donuts & new equipment like the coffee machine.

I love hot cinnamon donuts, freshly made in front of me. Nice treat with hot coffee.
So will get them FREE @DK.

                • @sandman20104159:

ummm 7-11 sells Krispy Kreme thats where i get mine from.

Double the normal price for donuts that aren't fresh…

  • History of Cinnis - traditional hot donut, rolled or dusted in cinnamon sugar.
They're unlike most donuts now sold in Australia.

The equipment to make them was originally introduced to Australia in in the late 1950s. Popularity grew in the late 1980s and 1990s.

Donut King, an Australian company was founded in 1981, making cinnis a long-standing presence in the Australian donut landscape. (From Google)

if you look at the ingredients of the donuts, Donut King but worst is Krispy Kreme. I would not touch it even free. Pay medical bills later is more expensive.

    • +2

      It's just 1 donut.
It's not like they're using death cap mushrooms to make them!

      • *Edit: OK, so maybe it was more than 'just 1'. 🤣

    • Pay medical bills later is more expensive.

It's a free donut. You're not dropping dead. It's not a beef Wellington or Novichok.

If you care about your health this much, you wouldn't even be consuming donuts, regardless of where they are from.

    • Pay medical bills later is more expensive.

      Lol😉
Was in private hospital overnight until 11am today for health check-up.
(Govt hospital was short of beds, so got FREE private room with riverside & CBD view! More like a luxury hotel.)

All tests including Blood sugar was healthy. Told them was going on a donut bender🍩 No problems😄

      It's "National Donut Day"🎉
Otherwise restrict to <2 donut per month.

  • +2

Ozbargainers near Chatswood will be able to nab 3.
    KK, DK and Brooklyn Donut

  • What about DK at Casuarina NT? I assume they're a 'QLD' franchisee?

  • Do you need app?

    • No.

  • why this took so long to get highlighted?
    ffs
i already came back from the shops

    • This was highlighted from 10am and it was also in your morning newsletter at 630am.

      • i was browsing ozb this morning before i head out ~noon
is daily highlighted deal meant to disappear from frontpage every now and then? https://imgur.com/a/jbEW0Et

        • No, this one was for 90 minutes. We highlight multiple deals per day, it would be too much to have it all day.

  • Picked up 5 free @Mt Gravatt Westfield Qld.
They are one of the Corporate DK.
Neighbouring store @Carindale Westfield are a franchised store.
    Going there now🍩

Was told DK stores are competing to see who gives away the most🎉

Started day with a Krispy Kreme🍩
Then 1 @ Brooklyn Donuts using app.

    • When Mt Gravatt saw I had a free Brooklyn cinnamon donut - they challenged me to which tasted better.

DK definitely was better - crisper outside & more cinnamon sugar covering whole donut, not mainly on top like the stodgy Brooklyn cinnamon donut.

So they gave me another free.

They were shouting out to people passing to grab a free donut or 2.

    • Picked up another 6 cinni free at Carindale Qld. Staff said take as many as you want

      Brooklyn had run out early.

Still giving out lots of bags of 3 iced +1 cinni. Grabbed a few from counter 🎉

Picked up total of 26 FREE donuts today🍩
      15 cinni + 9 iced @DonutKing (2 stores)
      1@Krispy Kreme, 1@Brooklyn
Not bad for 1 per person @4 stores.
      No disguises necessary😉

  • +1

Store said their machine was broken.

  • +2

OK, so not exactly deliberately, we (kids x 4, Mrs, and myself) may have had 28 free donuts today.
Intentional first stop at DK near home for 6.
Shopping centre we passed through after that for another 6. Plus, while kids were watching them being made, 3 of them got an extra on the side.
Next was the shopping centre we were actually planning to go to that has a KK out front. There's another 6 of theirs.
And finally, there's a DK at our intended stop for another 6. Plus a bonus 1.
    Define gluttony? 🤣

  • Donut machine was broken at my local store… very convenient.

  • +1

I got one and ran into my friend at shopping centre and told him to go and get one. he gave me a free Big Mac voucher for my birthday
