Is it enough for enjoying full audio beauty of Minesweeper and Solitaire ?

    • +1

sennheiser HE-1, easily the best setup for solitaire and minesweeper

Personally I prefer the Sonoma Bravura for a more relaxed soundstage. But HE-1 has the added benefit of low fatigue because it wears literally like a HD650, in the best way possible.

        • Second this. Minesweeper bass can really drown out the mids

The Arya unveiled will be mine one day

I think overall there's better bang for buck for this price right?

  • The 1990 Pro would be enough to spend on this brand and style. Great detail, quality and comfort, may need to run it through Peace APO to tweak the sound for all styles of music but they are great for high energy electronic music.

  • nah not buying these. 😂

why don't all the apple tax commenters on the Airpods Max deal come over here and complain. 🤔

    • Because they are in the ecosystem and only buy apple for a high premium regardless. Most don't care about sound quality and just want Bluetooth and tech toys.

      • Airpods Max apparently sound pretty good though. but yeah just having a joke. I feel the same way about someone recommending non ANC headphones in a ANC headphones post.

        • Haven't listened to them but I can imagine there are much better sounding audio brands around for a lot less. People just don't want cabled setups. I would assume they have a kind of Bose sound - a bit robotic with lots of treble and bass but not very good mids, but haven't listened to them either.

          • @G-rig: just from what I heard, Max are a big step up from Sony XM5 and Bose QC headphones.

I haven't listened to them either, but from recent sound tests I actually thought the new XM6 sounded better. but that doesn't make sense because Sony's signature sound is a bit muffled out of the box. Bose QC is often described as "boring" because it just sounds "good enough" with a bit of bass to make consumers happy. apparently Airpods Max actually have decent tuning, I remember awhile ago someone even described them as almost Sennheiser level of tuning.

            • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Yeah airpods max would be good enough if you have an iPhone etc. haven't listened to the xm6 but meant to be the best sounding Sony XM yet.

I've EQ'd the XM5 a bit and they are a lot better and as natural sounding as you can expect. Mostly paying for features on these type of form factor. Better options for home listening etc.

yeah I have the ULT Wear's which get a tonne of complaints out of the box because the extra bass makes it even more muffled. after perfecting EQ after about a month, they sound amazing. sometimes I think Sony does this on purpose to make the sound not good enough out of the box, so when the customer puts in effort and EQ's it they feel even better about the headphones.

I managed to find a good area so on either of the Xbass modes (ULT1 and ULT2 I think they are called) with it still sound clear and balanced. I barely ever use ULT2 though just because it's so strong. with ULT1 you already get a low bass boost which makes watching movies really like your at the cinema. I watched the Gosling "The Fall Guys" trailer with ULT2 and I literally thought I was at the movies.
