Plenty of fakes being sold too. And its very difficult to judge fake vs real.
People on FB marketplace are ridiculous, would have to be a 25% discount minimum to make the risk and warranty hassles worth it, when they're asking for the price you'd pay for a new product if not more.
The OZB way to deal with such people is to share the link to this deal and then negotiate the desired discount 🙂

@EvilPan6a: One way to mitigate some level of risk is to see the seller’s profile and marketplace listing’s history. If seems a genuine profile and seller, that reduces the risk of them selling something fake.
Try to collect from their residence that ticks another box. And of course check the box and other details as possibly you can get some hints from there as well.@OZBsince2018: I always offer then to open the box and check, then pay. Residence or police station.
90% of fb marketplace are fakes. They appear genuine (sealed) and come with fake receipts. Its a whole tiktok trend now to sell fakea

Depends on location and employee but try Chadstone, worked today.
Officeworks will NOT pricematch. Went in store and they denied it because 1. No part number in the listing. 2. Under warranty it states product is sold via 3rd party seller not Kogan themselves.
Was successful in price beating Officeworks Melbourne CBD, I guess it was just a lucky manager. At first they were unsure since it was Kogan but its shipping from Kogan warehouse yet sold by a third party (Tristar Online). I showed them it was brand new (not refurbished!) AU stock with Manufacturer's Warranty for 12 months based off my chat with Tristar online.
They decided to price beat the amount on Tristar Online at $210. So the total price out of pocket was $199.50. (Could bring it down lower with gift cards)
