I plan to sign up for the Kogan Mobile extra large plan after my current Vodafone annual plan ends. I'm very pleased with Vodafone and but need a plan with more data allowance. Is Kogan just as good as Vodafone or does it use a cheaper wholesale version like some Telstra retailers do?
Is Kogan Mobile Any Good?

I normally buy the cheapest value 365 mobile prepaid plans that fit my data needs. Normally from kogan or catch connect. Im not sure about cell phone coverage as i normally use data, but there are certain black spot in the train station i normally take and some shops are restaurants where cellular data is slow. I can live with that since its the second consecutive year i am with kogan
In theory it should be fine but I've had issues a few years back. I had Kogan's 30 and 90 day plan all was good. Changed to their 365 day plan and it was awful. Calls would drop out constantly, terrible reception too, at places I had no issues before and would frequent like the gym.
It's good value. Very good speeds where there is coverage. Some weird blackspots in places.
We're on a hill and on the mapped edge of coverage. If a tower goes out, walk up the hill, turn in circles while jumping up & down, you might get two bars. That rarely happens and not for about 3 years. I rarely use data, but personal experience is OK. Home network devices can be controlled away from home.
Kogan retails on the Vodaphone network.
Black spot problems will depend on your normal geographic range. https://www.vodafone.com.au/network/coverage-expansion
Vodaphone is growing their network. https://www.whistleout.com.au/MobilePhones/News/Vodafone-mob…
Telstra is exaggerating theirs, according to TPG, but I have a mate in rural Victoria who uses Telstra and is not covered by Optus or Vodaphone. In other words, if you travel to remote areas, your option may be Telstra, so you need to do your research. If that's the way you need to go, Aldi is on the Telstra network (but there may be others who offer competitive prices).
Only Telstra has 2 versions of its network.
The other 2 just have one version of theirs.
There is some speculation from some that MVNOs like Kogan Mobile are deprioritised on the Vodafone network if there is competition for bandwidth from Vodafone direct customers and similar stories for Catch Connect with Optus, but there has never been any hard proof of this.
If the Vodafone coverage is decent in the areas you frequent (both Vodafone and Optus if you live in country areas), then Kogan Mobile will probably work just as well.
