Roland TD-27KV2S V-Drums Series 2 Electronic Drum Kit $4,742.40 + $18 Shipping ($0 WA Pickup) @ Kosmic Sound

50

===========

I have ordered this for myself and I will update here if there are any issues in regards to the free hardware or $18 shipping (these things weigh 50+ kg).

UPDATE (23 May): Today I received confirmation from Billy Hyde (part of the same parent company as Kosmic Sound) that my order is being processed for shipping and that it does include the DW hardware. Absolutely stoked! If anyone is on the fence about this kit I genuinely don’t think you will ever get a better deal than this. It’s possible that Roland are clearing out stock to prepare for the launch of a new model, but I haven’t heard any rumours and this is still a lot of kit for your money.

============

ROLAND IS ALSO RUNNING A PROMOTION WHICH INCLUDES FREE DW3000 HARDWARE WHEN YOU PURCHASE A TD27 KV2 KIT

The DW3000 hardware kit includes hardware worth over $1,000:

• 1 x DWCP330A Snare Stand
• 1 x DWCP3500A Hi-Hat Stand
• 1 x DWCP3100 Drum Throne
• 1 x DWCP3000A Single Bass Drum Pedal

See here for Roland promotion details: https://www.roland.com/au/company/promotion/ROLAND-TD-27KV2-…

Although the Kosmic Sound sales page says the kit does not come with hardware, I have received confirmation from Kosmic Sound customer service that this kit is part of the Roland promotion and the DW hardware will be included.

I have wanting to buy one of these kits for a while, and I have never seen it this cheap. I spoke to multiple other retailers who refused to price match this deal and confirmed this was virtually cost price.

A cost price Roland TD27 KV2S with $18 shipping and $1,000+ of free DW hardware included makes this a pretty insane deal for anyone who has been thinking about buying one of these kits.

    Shipping kills the deal :P

  • Still holding out for a substantially sub-1k deal on td-07.. a man can dream

      Would highly recommend buying 2nd hand off Marketplace. That's what I did for my TD-11 and TD-17 kits. Lots of people buy these kits and then end up using them as a clothes rack and sell them near new on FB Marketplace for a fraction of the original price. I've almost never seen a TD-27 come up on Marketplace though, I'm assuming the higher price means only people who are committed will buy.

      On a related note, if you're in QLD I have an upgraded TD-11 kit that I would sell for sub $1k ;)

      • Sadly i'm in Tassie, so the used market is pretty slim pickings - have definitely been keeping an eye out over the last 12 months though!

    Would this be similar to the $140 electronic drum kit that Aldi have every 12 months?

  • I like how Aldi trumpets are referred to as TSO's (Trumpet Shaped Objects).

  • Bought a td-17kv for 1399 new

    • where did you buy from? any link? thanks.

  • What would be a good kit for a learning child that is not too expensive and not total toy crap?
    What to look out for when buying second hand?

      Depends on your definition of expensive. You could probably get a used Roland TD-11 kit for $900-$1,000 which is around the level that the kits stop feeling like toys and start feeling like an instrument. Don’t buy a kit with the black rubber pads, you want one with the white mesh pads (cymbals are ok to be black rubber, just not the drum pads). The rubber pads are horrible to play on and they make a lot of noise.

      Check that all of the pads generate a noise when you hit them and that the noise varies in volume when you hit harder and softer. Some pads will generate a different noise when you hit the edge vs the centre.

      The Roland cymbals are known to have an issue as they age where they stop responding to a “choke”, which is where you grab the cymbal to stop the noise after you hit it. So make sure that you can hit the cymbal and then grab the front edge to make the noise stop. Not all cymbals have the choke function, so you’ll need to confirm what to expect based on the model you’re looking at.

      The only other thing is that as the pads age, the cone underneath the mesh can get compressed and not respond as well to drum hits. But this is difficult to check before buying, and it’s a relatively cheap and easy fix.

      I probably wouldn’t go for anything over 10 years old. I’d recommend a used Roland TD-11 kit for ~$1,000 or a used Roland TD-17 kit for $1,300-1,700 or so. Consider whether a drum stool is included, as well as a kick pedal and hi-hat pedal / stand. Not all sellers include these when selling a kit.

      Bear in mind that TD-11 and TD-17 just refers to the module that controls the drum kit. There are variants of each model (e.g., TD-17 KVX2) that specifies which individual drum pads and cymbals are included with the kit. ChatGPT is pretty good at spelling out the differences if you get confused.

      Good luck!

  • I don't even play drums but I want this.
