Not sure how the formula works (watts x hours x unit cost blah blah blah), but I'm thinking that if you have this on 2000w for a few hours each day you're going to end up with a fairly significant bill after a couple of months.

    • How does that compare to a reverse split system?

    • +1

The formula is a simple 2 x whatever your kwh rate is. Typically around 25-35 cents, so at full power this heater is costing 50-70 cents per hour.

They aren't particularly cheap to run, but in a small area that you need fast heat for a short time they're ok. I have a similar one in a small kitchen and a small bathroom. Put it on 10-15 minutes before having a shower.

Say for example 100 days of 5 hours @ 2kW. Compare to a split using 500W.
That is 750kWh difference. At 33c/kWh you are paying $250 extra. or $2000 over 8 years.

Adjust those numbers by how much you use it, and how continuously it runs in your room.
The split system will also cool in summer.

    What

    • +1

Presume you can use the fan without the heat element on.

      Wouldn't do much.

  • How is this going to provide "year round comfort" in February?

    • +4

Take it on holidays to Finland.

  • Save on AC now, pay double in your power bill.

  • Was looking for a bathroom heater for cold mornings, so that's exactly what I want.
Retails at HN, Amazon and JB for a fair bit more and other similar units tend to cost $100 and more.
