    nulon is best

I find it doesn't taste as good as Penrite but idk

    • What about Castrol?

      • it's all the same shi t in the end.

Follow the specification, not the brand.

    • Oils oil. They're all rather good these days, just get the cheapest.

      • +5

The cheapest that meets the standard your vehicle requires.

changing oil frequently has a far bigger impact than the perceived quality of oil.

          • @dBagDealer: define frequently?

          • -2

@dBagDealer: Try using something that doesn’t meet spec in a DI Turbo and let me know how you go in a few years.
            Chatgpt:

SN+ or SP oils are required in direct injection (DI) turbo engines because they contain additives to prevent LSPI (Low-Speed Pre-Ignition), a destructive engine knock.

SN oil doesn’t protect against LSPI, risking severe engine damage.
SN+ and SP do. That’s why SN alone isn’t safe.

Nulon & every oil on the shelf is class 3 synthetic, class4 (true synthetic) is from vendors such as Liquii Molly, Nulon's oils are lesser quality since the company sold a few years ago.

      • True, but Class 3 is fine for the normal car.

  • How is this different to their HPR line?

    • Closest would be HPR5. Slightly different viscosity (5W-30 / 5W-40) They meet different specifications and have different additives.

  • need this. was about ~$65-80 last year.

    • Diesel with DPF -my records show 2022 boxing day SCAsale was $75
More recently bought Gulf Western EURO ENERGY 5W-30 ACEA C3 10L for $77.36 at SCA

  • 38 for 5l would be cheaper than 80 for 7l?

    • If you're replying to tc423.

That's a different oil and suitable for Diesel.

      This oil isn't.

  • Damn no good for diesel.

They had it on the shelf for $75.99 (5l) so I priced matched the Repco one.
Now, with this price, I feel so dirty I need an oil change.

    Or Penrite 0W-20 $43, https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/penrite-penrite-enviro-e…?

    Where're $30 5L premium-brand oil ?

  • Not that it matters for most users, but GF-S is "Blended using premium SYNTHETIC base oils for heat resistance and high performance"

where as EDS 5 is "FULL SYNTHETIC base oil for heat resistance and high performance"

    GF-S vs EDS 5

EDS 5 is sold as Vantage Full Synthetic under Repco stores and was previously known as Full Synthetic in under stores like SCA
