I bought one of these years ago and it's still going strong today. 5kg? monitor hanging from it. I would buy the same again if I needed a second one.

  • +1

Something stronger would probably be better for an older 32" right?

    • North bayou g70

    • +4

H100. Serving me quite well with my 32" monitor.

    • I have a Dell G3223Q (6kg) on this same model without any dramas

    • +1

I used this for my AW3225QF without any issues

Bought one for the LG 32" (5.9Kg) on here recently. Thanks OP.

  • This is the only thing managing to hold up my X34P…

F80 is NOT the model I'd recommend. It's so short, it'll barely raise a 27" monitor off the desk. Uplift range is 260mm. The G70 for comparison is 345mm.

It's description on the screemounts website indicates 17-27" monitors - I don't know how many are rocking 24" or less these days…

    https://www.screenmounts.com.au/store/p37/Gas_Strut_Desktop_…

I had several F80s before moving to the (now discontinued) F100A. Far more useful model. I use it on a 38" AW3821DW and another 32" side by side.

    • +2

Saying it'll 'barely raise a 27" monitor off the desk" is a bit of an exaggeration. Depends on use case of course but giving me plenty of height for my 27".

        • +3

I think you might be a bit off there. According to diagram and specs, it has a 260mm vertical adjustment range from the centre pivot with a maximum height from the desk to the centre of the VESA mount of 400mm.

        • +2

Scroll down the page. There’s a diagram that clearly shows the max table to mid vesa mount is 400 mm. Therefore at max height, it would raise the bottom of a 27” screen to max over 200 mm.

            @twocsies: Gotcha. Thanks both.
            My calcs stand corrected.
200mm sounds more in line with what I experienced (I was thinking that 100mm seems ridiculously low).

@CrushJelly: I ran two of these with a pair of 27s and they are great. Just beware of using a current cheap or Ikea desktop as they tend to not be too solid and it can (and will) leave indent marks). At least I know where to place the arms back on when I move hahahaha

              • @nafe: My desk is probably about 20mm thick, so I got a piece of off-cut timber from Bunnings, which was about 40mm thick, and used that to make the clamp sit on a thicker portion of the desk. It doesn't help with indentation at the top of the desk, but it'll certainly help distribute the force across the bottom of the table.

That could be worthwhile for next time?

                • @CrushJelly: Its actually the top which needs more load spreading. The mount has some round rubber parts which left a slight indent. Underneath is OK. It's probably also because of the angle of my arms where it's extended out and away from the mount slightly for one of them. That said, I'm happy with them, and the ikea desktop is cheap enough I'm not too worried :)

                • @CrushJelly:

It doesn't help with indentation at the top of the desk,

would using a sponge or foam material for top and bottom prevent indentation?

            • @CrushJelly: Gotta love someone gracefully accepting a correction! 🙌 Need to see more of this.

          • @twocsies: I agree with the height. Personally I need the bottom of a 30" monitor to be around 350 mm for eye level to be around the middle of the monitor.

            • +1

@twocsies: Ergonomically speaking, your eyes should be closer to the top of the screen and looking slightly down towards the middle of the monitor. Sometimes this isnt always achievable depending on the monitor etc. I currently have my 27 setup and its higher than previous and I definitely notice the difference in ergonomics and comfort.

    • I think the H100 is the same arm but with a height adjustment

  • Anyone recommend one of these for dual 24"?

    • +11

Do yourself a favour and get 2 of these.

  • +1

    Excellent arm, have several.

If you have a larger monitor the h100 is great. Not currently on special though. https://amzn.asia/d/fbAiTiT

    • that cost is close to buying a new 24" monitor.

      too expensive.

  • Just set a price drop alert yesterday and bang right on time 😀😀

  • +1

Any recommendations for a 34 inch ultra wide? Preferably something that doesn’t tilt downwards by its self due to the weight haha

    • One of the heavy duty North Bayou ones would work. At worst, it requires you to set the angle a little higher, tighten the bolt as much as you can, and then let it "settle down" to your desired angle.

      • +1

Which models are the heavy duty ones?

        • +1

NB45, any of the G series.

      • North Bayou H100 works great on the curved Xiaomi 34 inch.

    • I've been using the Desky Heavy Duty Ultrawide Monitor Arm for quite a while and I'm happy with it. There will definitely be cheaper alternatives but I needed one in a pinch and they were local to me.

    • +1

I got NB G70 for my dell 34 ultra wide. Its holding where as all the others rated for 9kg dropped.

  • One of these days I'll buy some monitor arms!

definitely would be nice in my setup

  • Anyone who has one of these. Can the arm go below the mounting level.

I've got a studio where the monitor is up quite high and I want to be able to bring it out and down to eye level at times, the images appear like they don't but just want to check it out.

    • Minimum height of VESA mid point would be 140mm.

  • Is it all metal? Like no plastic clamps etc?

Had to return 2 other dual arms as they had freaking plastic clamps..

    • Been a while since I've set one up.

From memory the clamp structure itself is metal, but the stuff around the top piece that joins onto the arms MIGHT be a solid plastic.

      Hopefully someone can confirm.

      • Arms are metal. Some of the joints are solid plastic (joint for the VESA mount for example). I havent had any issues with them, and it all locks together solidly for me.

  • I have a 27 inch monitor I want to orientate vertically. Will this monitor arm work?

  • Anyone know if a monitor arms exits without tilt adjustment? I feel like this is the Achilles heel of all cheap arms/mounts and the monitor can potentially sag. Seems to be the most common complaint anyway.

    • i havet had any issues with sagging of my mounts, They were up for over 12 months and I never touched them to adjust once it was set

      • Guess it depends on the quality of the mount I guess? Just saying, when you look at any negative reviews of mounts (especially under the $100 price range). The most common complaint is the monitor sagging which is due to the tilt mechanism.

        • +4

It's also commonly due to people not realising you can tighten the tilt mechanism to eliminate sag. No issues with this monitor arm in the 18+ months I've had it.

  • Would these be fine to use one if i had a 32” (6.27kg) so is bigger than the intended usage size but is below the weight limit? I wasn’t sure if 27” is the max size it can handle or whether it’s more about the weight which would make more sense to me.

Have an existing dual arm that and states up to 8kg per arm so weight wise seems ok. Planning to put a 27” that is just under 5kg on the other arm to balance out if that makes any difference

    • Should be okay if it's under the weight specs. Plus it's Amazon, so easy to return if no good.

      • Thanks. Actually I already have the arm (not purchased from Amazon) but had been afraid of putting it on the arm so had left it on the stand.

    • +1

It will be totally fine - you just might not be able to rotate your screen without pivoting the whole arm away from the desk (you can still use portrait mode, but the screen corners will bang into the desk mid-rotation if you rotate it while above the desk - so you have to rotate in the air away from the desk).

Weight is the important spec. Size rating is more about the screen rotation (but you can definitely use larger monitors than the stated rating).

      • Thank you! I thought so but good to have this confirmed. Don't plan to continually move/rotate it - will just be mostly set in place other than the initial adjustment to get a good position so that's perfect.

  • PS: the design of the F80 has changed over the past few years.

Looking for one that could work with the Samsung 32:9 superultrawide

  • One left now

  • Are these worth getting I've just got over big ultrawide gaming monitor

    • I had one of these with my 34" monitor and worked great, only issue i had it just didn't go high enough for me.
Ended up giving it away and bought the H100 model instead, which has been great!

  • Back in stock!

    • But $40 now?

  • Anyone recommend about 27 inch and 34 inch ultra-wide pls.
