    Awesome camera.

    • if only Canon designed it with a battery grip for portrait orientation

great price on rf 14-35 L BTW

      • Agreed, it's Canon's intentional gimping to force you to pay more for the professional variants.

        • I grabbed EOS R earlier this year from Ted's refurb discount deal. ended up paying $1264, camera arrived like new. added 2 yr service package for $99 for peace of mind. battery grip got genuine for $130. 30mp will do me for studio. I don't need video features, but need a bit more resolution than 20 or 24mp. I wish Canon finally did a camera for photographers for a change, then I won't have to cheat like this.

Those Lp-e17 batteries just don't seem to last… I have to carry 3 of them with me for my Eos RP because they only manage around 100 shots, and that's with all the power saving stuff turned on.

    • I think it is bit better with R8. Also, you can use USB-C power directly. I upgraded from 6D with 3 batteries with YOM2012; it still works well and can shoot a lot of photos with a single battery, but lacks video capabilities etc.

I definitely get more than 100 shots on either R8 or R10 - a lot more usually, and if shooting bursts, I get in the thousands. And that's with no power saving stuff turned on. I shot 4,500 shots at Australia Zoo (admittedly a fair bit of burst shooting) on less than 2 batteries.

This is a good price - I paid $1920 a year ago at Digidirect.

I can do 200-300 shots or a day of casual outing on an r8 with a single battery.
R8 is a lot of bang for buck at that price.
