Is anyone with solar investing in a heat pump dryer?

Or are you happy to save your money and just run the power hungry vented dryers during the day when solar is generating?

I'm trying to save up for a solar system battery and think money towards that would be better value.

I have solar and run the heat pump dryer. Even when its 30 degrees outside or whatever, I still chuck it in the heat pump dryer as it way quicker than putting it on the line.

Thing you will notice about a heat pump dryer is that the room doesn't get humid and also the clothes come out feeling "fresh". Like with a vented one, they come out feeling like cardboard or dehydrated. Really love how clothes feel coming out of the heat pump dryer. Get one, you wont regret it.

  • question for the pros.. always been putting off buying a dryer as they used to be incredibly power hungry, however especially with weeks like last, there are times where it could be helpful. how are heat pumps when it comes to efficiency?

    • Not a pro but, I have this exact dryer op posted. It’s awesome. Normal load takes about an 1h 20mins and is rated at 650 watts. I pay 32 cents per kw. You do the math

wow, that is significantly less running cost than I was thinking. these things are a real game changer, feel like ive been in a coma or something lol

    • I have the 9kg 9-star model, which cost $1100 November last year. It is rated at 125Kw a year for an average usage of once a week. My off-peak and shoulder rates are 30c an hour so as it takes around 2.5 - 3.5 hours to dry it works out to be about 75 cents, but it is a larger capacity dryer.

  • Bought this the other week for $795 from Appliances Online, who installed it and took away my old machine. Have only used it to dry shoes so far on its drying rack, which was a new function to me. Having it running barely registered on my energy usage monitor. To answer another question, we do need to run the dryer when we aren't generating solar so i think both the heat pump dryer and the solar are exclusively good investment ideas.

  • I had an earlier model of this Hisense, wasn't all that impressed with how noise it was and the irritably tedious lint filters were to clean. Recently purchased a Haier 8kg unit and its quite, has WiFi and is much easier to clean the lint build up.

  • $719 at goodguyscommercial if anyone is looking to get
