I believe this a great deal for an OLED panel. Not sure if stacks with the current coupons

Edit: it works with the 10% coupon.

  • Worth going feom my QLED to a OLED.. https://www.samsung.com/au/monitors/gaming/dqhd-monitor-with…

I heard OLED isn't as good for work as the text isn't that good. Any truth to that?

Where can I get a 10% discount code?

    • Here

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/907572

Yours has: 1000r (more aggressive curve compared to 1500r OLED ) and 240hz (vs 144hz).

      • Yea never use it at 240hz.. and mine is about 5y old now so no warranty haha. Can sell it for 1.1k so 150 bucks extra for a new monitor. But I am wondering about the curve..

        • +1

I have the same you have but mine is the NEO model (Mini Led). I would swap if had no warranty left (still has 4 years from cex).

        • +5

Whos buying this from you for $1.1k

      • +1

        This is a 1800 curve…

        • +1

          I can't edit it anymore

Putting aside that your comment could be applicable to nearly every OzBargain post, based on your own link this is still an ATL (for perks members)?

      • Putting aside the massive asterisk you've tried to work in there, I linked the details for the 1800R 240Hz model, with the most recent deal being cheaper than this price.

If you're going to buy a small aircraft wing for a monitor, you might as well get your money's worth and max out the refresh rate.

        • +3

Ah yes my bad for not picking up on that with all the detail you put in there…but there's still nothing in your link cheaper than $1259 so not sure what you're on about.

In regards to this model though outside of the 2 EPP deals, this looks to be the cheapest: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/G91SD%20type%3Aozbd…

          • -2

@Osiris: My apologies, it was $36 more. Oh no

Still the better monitor, still virtually at the same price? Still worth it over this model at $1199? This is the monitor you buy because you didn't look further.

            • +1

@jasswolf: Wait for better deals….its the lowest…not its not…still the better monitor though. Stick to a goal post. Going to conclude this:

              • This deal by itself - for this product and a 49" oled - is pretty good imo especially if you don't have EPP access.
              • Wait for better deals is so generic and not a valid reason for a neg again imo.
              • Which is the better monitor? If you want 240hz and a matte coating and happy to wait for similar pricing then yes you would go the G93SD if some or all of those things don't suit you (as we know the coating won't) this again is a good deal.
              • -3

@Osiris: You're paying 2017 prices to switch from IPS to OLED… get a better refresh rate, even if it costs another $200 for a glossy version. This is a bad product at this price, even at its ATL.

                • +1

@jasswolf: 2017 prices for a 49" OLED, that's a tall tale even for you but you go one better by saying its a bad product now, better go back and add that to your ever growing list of goal posts. Don't suppose you want to provide anything to back that up? Maybe even your fan club will struggle to upvote that one.

        • Which ones do you think are a better deal. I can’t see any links?

    • +2

      apparently g93sd is matte coating.

      • -1

Get that confirmed if you could, but even if true, there's the G95SD that will also be sliding in price, or grab the G93SC/G95SC if you can.

Samsung's matte coating is far better than LG's anyway.

        • +1

I had one. G93SD is matte panel

          • @MichaelAU: Then if Samsung's marketing is any indication, so does the G95D, which means you're out of luck in terms of current models being faster and having a glossy coat at the same time.

The 2025 matte coating is reportedly an improvement on what was already the best matte coating… what didn't you like about it in dark room usage?

    • I'd agree. Newer panel with 240hz for under $1300 is a much better deal.
The 144hz panel is ok, just not as great a value.

    • +2

So just because you CAN wait for better deal, my post deserves to be negged even being the cheapest atm by far??

      • -5

It's a bad product in the current market, amongst a host of much faster OLED options in the $1000-$1400 deal range. It's a $1000 monitor.

This isn't the first time I've cracked into this model on this website, tired of seeing it until Samsung (and others) cut prices.

        • +4

tldr; no better prices, no better deals atm, someone has a bee in their bonnet about this model and is gonna neg all the deals for it.

          • @Osiris: I believe this is the first time I've downvoted it, because this is the first time people have actually taken it seriously in the wider marketplace.

Samsung deals roll around almost monthly, direct from Samsung.

Please do not gaslight others along with yourself.

You must read the ozbargain guidelines before negging a deal

          "Inappropriate uses of negative vote

I have reported your downvote. Since you are really good reading specs you should take some time to read the rules of this community.

          • @Dienk: My explanation for the negative vote is clearly more comprehensive than that, stop taking this so personally.

      • I saw $1199 for G91SD on the Samsung website. I purchased the G93SD for $1347.35 on the Samsung website. I found one dead pixel and they replaced a new panel for me and refund me 10%, so I paid $1212.6

  • I would love to have a nice expansive display like this, but will wait until it's like $500.

    • See you in 2032

      • if you tell people not to neg, then why did you neg me yourself?

        • Your mistake is thinking I did it when I didn't. I didn't neg you. You can't see who neg you. How do you say it without knowing it?

  • +5

How many people can run fames at 240hz with this resolution anyway… I'm happy at 144hz. I don't game much, maybe few hours a week.. at most. But don't see having to wait for a possible deal for the extra hz inless you have a insane gpu to push the system. And please none of these BS 5xxx series that uses fake frames.

Tx OP, if the guy takes mine tomorrow I'm getting this and adding it to my work from home equipment making this almost a $0 changeover of screens for me. Just hope the curve isn't going to be my issue.

As for text, FYI, seems like you can install Mactype to improve the text on OLED.

    • Ah yes, because people never upgrade their computer over the lifespan of a monitor…

      • This is not a 27" screen. Running games with the full aspect ratio is a lot more demanding from a GPU unless you turn down your graphics or get a 4080 or something. A lot of people still have 2000 or 3000 series and even a 3070ti can't do 240hz with good detail.

        • -1

There's a variety of ways to solve this problem, and there's no harm in almost doubling your refresh rate for so little extra spend when the monitor will outlast the GPU.

Upscaling does great work, there's frame rate acceleration tech for when input latency is less important, you can lower the resolution, or you can just be satisfied with only pushing the refresh rate in some games for now.

Your solution is one choice among many, and it's generally regarded as a poor one. Personally, I would never even buy any kind of ultrawide, historically because they were more than double the competing single monitor solution, but thankfully that is shifting a bit at 240Hz and below. But if you want to go faster there's no option right now due to the power budget and lifespan concerns currently.

  • +6

I have this exact model and love it. 144Hz is totally fine unless you're doing competitive gaming.

The text issue was noticeable at first, but it was strange because after 2-3 days of using the monitor I just stopped noticing it, like my eyes got used to it. I have an LCD monitor to the side and can't tell the difference between them anymore.

I use this for mostly work-from-home and a little gaming and it's perfect for both. Essentially 2x 1440p 27" displays for work, without the middle frame.

I did get mine for $1052 direct from Samsung with all their stackable discounts they have from time to time. Wait for those instead if you can.
