Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 256GB $1,858 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

160

Same price on Amazon. Cheaper than current listed price on JB Hi Fi, can we ask them to price match with extra 10% off for perks member?
Missed S25 Ultra deal from Samsung last week.
Is it worth a try from upgrading the Pixel 8 Pro to Z Fold 6 or wait for another deal of S25 Ultra?

Removed price match against JB Hi-Fi from title (no detail and no link to JB Hi-Fi supplied, no certainty) — Mod

Just as a warning for anyone considering one of these foldables.

My flip lasted 10 months before the factory screen protector lifted up. No worries, I thought, surely they're aware that this can happen and the warranty will sort it out easily?

To get it fixed, you have to send your phone off to a repairer which takes 1-2 weeks, and during that period you have no phone. They don't do advance repairs where they just send you a swapped phone, they don't do on-demand repairs in their stores, you're just screwed.

To add to the insanity, they offer Samsung Care+ which offers you a phone swap for a small fee, which DOES work in advance (they send you the new device first). But they don't combine this with warranty, and just waive the fee, which would be the most logical way to handle it, they're two discrete services you cannot use together.

Overall, pretty craptacular experience. Caveat Emptor.

    • I had a Fold 4 that needed the screen protector "replaced" not "fixed".

I found out that dropping the phone at Samsung Centre or JBHifi partner centre will take weeks to get it done and the CS suggested me to go to a "authorised repairer" which was small phone shop near asian groceries at Lalor, VIC replace it for me instantly.

Before i replaced the screen protector i already noticed the phone will refuse to boot when the inner screen is unfolded so I mentioned to the technician and the he told me to book another service through Samsung to get the hinge looked at as the booting process apparently requires the phone to check for inner screen presence.

I procrastinated and 2 weeks later, the inner screen died completely and i booked a service, dropped it on a Monday and by Wednesday it was fixed (entire inner screen and inner bezel replaced too).

Also, apparently JB Hifi doesn't do repair and will only take the phones to the authorised repairer anyway hence the additional delay.

      All were covered under warranty.

      • Yeah its all covered, its just garbage that they have the "send it away to be fixed' mentality when they're such fragile phones and advance replacement is so much more customer friendly.

And they literally already have an advanced replacement service, you just can't connect the two.

        • Did you read my conment?

They didn't "send it away" in my case.

Advanced replacement is only for the expensive Samsung Care.

They're not breaking any law by "fixing it".

But its a fragile phone indeed so i trade in for S25U for that reason.

          • @meong: Yeah, i had a fold 6. After 6 months i also came to the conclusion it was too fragile and i also traded in for the s25u.

      • Sadly the Lalor store no longer have contract with Samsung.

    • My fold lasted about the same, I took it to an Auth repair centre (which was in the CBD Melb) they fixed it within 3 days.

Dealing with Samsung themselves was horrible, they were not helpful in any way and it's going to be hard to justify buying another Samsung for my next phone.

    • Samsung service centre in Adelaide replaced the screen protector with a 1 hr turnaround for me.

The ones in Brisbane will not, they have to send it away.

That would be the service level I'd expect, and would be happy if they offered that.

        • I have had my done by then service centre near the airport done within 1 hours Brisbane that is for my fold 4

            @davenpru: Is that Tecworks?

I'd love more details, as Samsung Chermside said they couldn't do it and had to send it away.

            • @dekekun: The one (and only) in Adelaide is Tecworks

            • @dekekun: Yes tecworks. Call Samsung online and say U want to take it directly to auth repairer and they will send the details of job to tec works who then call you to arrange a time for drop off

    • This was what happened to my friend's z flip, I got worried the same would happen to my Fold 6 so I sold it off to get a S25U for peace of mind

Fold7 coming in Aug. Should be available for around this price or even cheaper with Samsung pre-order offers.

Still using my fold 3. Best phone I've ever had. Could not go back to a standard phone. Have had the folding screen protector replaced 3 times. A bit annoying to have to go in store to do it, though.

    • hey, me too. I decided to remove the inner screen protector, been about 6 months ago(ish?) and apart from faint micro scratches you can see in the sun, all good.

Also survived a drop into a puddle fully submerged…

      • How did you go removing the screen protector? I reckon I'll do that next time, now that I've had the phone a reasonable time.

        • Mine came off by itself and it was safe to remove it yourself.

          • @meong: Zflip3 replaced original protector once cause it had dust in the middle. Second time it happened I just went bare and its been fine.

  • I have the fold3. Love the phone but it's not durable.
Screen cracked and replaced under warranty within 2 years. Starting to crack again outside of warranty.

If you don't intent to keep it for more than a year or two and are ok not selling it because it'll have a cracked screen, then it's worth getting.

    • Starting to crack again outside of warranty.

I'd get onto Samsung about that. If they refuse to fix, lodge a complaint with fair trading in your state, give Samsung the case number with a demand that they fix or refund. ACL dictates items should have an expected life expectancy and given Samsung themselves guarantee software updates for 7 years that would be evidence that they themselves suggest 7 years is the expected life of the phone.

Coming from fold 2, 3 ,4 ,5 and now 6. I cannot fault these phones yes my 4 had the screen protector come off but was repaired for free under warranty within an 1 hour .. I would recommend the extra Care + warranty

But I recommend waiting till fold 7 as the trade-in values are better I paid no more then 1.1k for each iteration 512 GB with the trade in

    • What do you mean waiting until fold 7 so the trade in values are better?
Sorry, my ZF4 is over the warranty and the screen protector is peeling off again ($ 66 quoted by Samsung to have it replaced) and I'm considering just trading that in and getting a new one with the 2 year warranty again.

The ZF6 is incredibly pricey, even after trade-in bonus and the 440 they're offering on the ZF4 trade in…
      Thanks!

      • So when Samsung launches a product the pre order trade in values stay relative the same but the bonus trade in credit usually doubles.

That's why every time I upgraded from each version I paid max only 1.1k for the new phone as the trade in bonus are more during new launch and you will get bonus buds or watch depending .

        • +1

          Wow, I had no idea!
So, following this logic, the ideal scenario would be to, as soon as a brand new ZF7 launches, go for it, for double the trade-in bonus, in addition to the trade in value that should remain roughly the same?
Thank you, I'll most certainly keep an eye out for it in Aug, then.
Any other tips or tricks to help a fellow bargainer out?
          Cheers.

          • @bargainerpro: Yup I recommend getting the 66 dollar fix so the U have a usable phone and the jump in generation from 4 to 7 will be very noticeable from tech perspective
