Seeking Feedback from Those That Bought The Peugeot E-2008 GT SUV MY23 (Orange Fusion) from $39,990 Driveaway

Hi all, I am seeking feedback from anyone who went ahead and purchased the Peugeot E-2008 GT SUV MY23 as listed in this deal from May 2024.

I found the deal quite appealing but at the time I was not ready to take the plunge and have regretted it since but have wondered how others feel that actually did purchase one of these electric cars.

In other OzB car forums I see people not recommending Peugeots so I would love some feedback, positive or negative, as to why this, or any of their 2008 or 3008 petrol or Hybrid SUV models, are good or bad and worth considering as a new car purchase.

Thanks in advance for your comments. :-)

I always say stay away from anything French except French brunette-redhead Michelle and Michelin tyre.

    • You can add Emmanuel Macron and husband to that ⁉️

    • What about French wines?

I cant wait to hear from the Pug experts… Whatever nubzy says, I will back 100%…

Would you take the opinion of someone who bought, say, the Vertigo Blue or Elixer Red one? Might be hard though, seeing as though Peugeot sells about 8 cars a year…

The only pro Peugeot ever had was its handling ability. Not sure how these newer small SUVs handle though.

Other than that they are lemons, especially in the electrical department.

Imagine having a vehicle manufacturer, renowned for electrical issues and thinking… "you know what… I heard that their ALL electric vehicle might be on a winner…"

It's like the biggest thing Peugeot are worst at and then making a car that is made up of just that, the worst part of what Peugeot does… Some of their engines I would give a pass… but they took that out and replaced it with more electrics… The literal thing they are know for being bad at… Same as Jeep.

Ironically, the e-2008 sits on the same platform (CMP) as the Jeep Avenger being that they are all tied into "Stellantis". Two peas, same pod… Something about rolling turds in glitter…

It doesn't matter. Here only Korea/japan good. Everything else is bad. Camry for life. You are asking in the wrong forum.

People not all agree. But you ok.

The only Peugeot I would consider has GTI on the badge.

You're guaranteed problems but at least you will have fun driving it when it works.

Opps, The only GTI I would consider has VW on the badge.

      • Both are great cars.

        I’ve owned a Golf GTI

The first Pug GTI was a much more serious hot hatch than the Golf GTI at the time.

The Pug GTI is worthy of the GTI badge.

The Golf doesn’t even come in a manual anymore FFS.

Facebook owner groups can be good for getting ownership feedback, unless its a BYD or MG group which censors negative feedback or bullies people for negative feedback

    • +1

Can confirm, the BYD groups are toxic AF. Don’t dare mention you have an issue, it will be 50 replies of “well, mine is perfect, 25,000km and still strong!”

Owners groups on Facebook are one of the worst places to get genuine feedback because most of these groups are echo chambers for circle jerking how awesome a brand is instead of talking about the issue. They are also usually run by some boomer admin or some one eyed fanboi that doesn’t take too ki dly to any form of criticism of their favourite brand.

      • There are some good ones out there. The better ones tend to be more enthusiasts cars though. You can tell by how helpful people are with people who are having issues rather than calling them liars.

    • Thanks for the tip. I will look into and see if I can find one.

consider lexus lbx hybrid as alternative

    • Thanks for the recommendation. I haven’t heard of this car so I will look into.

Do your own research of course, but I was first impressed by the 308 SW years ago when looking for an affordable family car. The panoramic roof and the versatility of the 7-seater were unmatched in that price range at the time. While the petrol variants have had their share of horror stories, the diesel models are generally far more reliable. Not sure about the electric ones. The small steering wheel was frowned upon, but it really makes sense once you've driven it. Admittedly I’m a bit biased, I’ve owned a couple and had very few issues :)

  • Thanks @djprima for feedback on an actual Peugeot car. Does the W stands for wagon? The current 308 models are all small hatchbacks.
I would preferred diesel if going full ICE but none available in their current range other than vans.
