        • Yeah I saw the same thing. Took the navy ones matching the sign but.

  • Coles Pacific Fair had some, Coles the pines had plenty, all in Gold Coast

  • Has anyone been able to test whether the limit is 5 of each gift card type, or 5 of any type?

    • I just signed up for a 2nd flybuys card. Got some at my local and the rest near work.

Stores I went to had stacks of stock and I probably could have just gone tomorrow and got the remainders.

      • Just tested and it's limited to 5 of any gift card type. So I did the same as you, created a second flybuys account.

  • Dumb question.. do you still need to redeem the type of gift you want after you’ve purchased.. or can you use the gift card straight away at the stores?

    • +1

Can use straight away at participating stores 👍

      • +1

Thanks! Plan on redeeming at EB

        • I just did that. Just make sure to remove the glue that comes with the card otherwise it will get stuck at the pinpad 😂

        • If you do convert to an e-gift card, it’s instant. I converted 8 to e-gift cards, in case that’d be easier at the EB cashier, and there’s no wait at all.

          • @Smigit: Would it not be easier to just use the gift card in that case? Instead of converting it to an e-gift card?

            • +1

@HS10: No idea. The e-gift card was really easy and quick for them to process 7 in a row. Took a few mins. When I redeemed each I also added to apple wallet with the button that popped up, so in EB I was just swiping left to right though each card, which they’d scan and I’d read the PIN out for. Was efficient.

But it may have been as easy to have kept it as a HIM card too.

              • +1

@Smigit: Apple wallet would be handy. I’ll decide what I want to do tonight. Have my switch and Pokémon tcg pre orders to pay off. Thanks!

                • @HS10: So I ended up going the e-gift card route.. majority converted instantly to an e-gift except for 1 which was strange cause it wasn’t the last one to be redeemed

“Your eGift will be emailed to you within the next 24 hours.“

Kinda annoying cause I wanted to use it for my switch pre order this afternoon. Hopefully comes through soon.

                  • @HS10: Damn. Sorry to hear that happened. I did 9 (for $850) and all were instant.

              • @Smigit: I took mine straight from Coles to EB, you swipe the card through the reader and enter the pin. The person at EB was lovely about it and helped me break them out of the cardboard and uncover the pin while I swiped them and entered the pin. It took a little time, would have been better with the $100 ones.

The Coles staff seemed to feel personally offended that I was getting a second lot of 5 of the $50 him cards, but I was only doing it because they didn't have the $100. The first person who served me called the second person who served me to tell her I'd bought some, which is fair enough. But the one serving me was very reluctant to let my friend buy them and was really snarky. He even used his flybuys and paid. They didn't even know they were 10% off, so her issue wasn't that they were on sale. It's also stupid that I can buy $2500 of Her gift cards, but not $300 of Him. A dollar limit would make more sense.

  • Can these cards be used at offceworks via price beat phone chat?
I.e can it be used as a credit card/ debit card/ Efptos?

    Thanks in advance

    • +1

Pretty sure you can. At least we can at jbhifi

      • Thanks!

Good to have confirmation as I have not done phone price match and pay through that

  • Edit: nevermind, saw the conditions

  • Got 5x $100 today. Thanks OP

  • I've done this a bunch of times to stock up. Some of the staff are so speculative when going through with just the gift cards.

The first time, I asked about the 'scam alert' card they give out and asked what the scams are? So apparently people are held to buy them for other people apparently.

So I wanted to ask, are there others out there getting this vibe?

Oh well, I'm going to keep buying them, the discount is great.

Cheers OP! Ended up getting about 15 over a couple of days.

    • I got flyers with mine

      • One Coles gave me a flyer when I went through a checkout. At the self service for my other purchase I didn’t get handed anything even though staff had to help with the checkout process there also.

        • Cheers for the responses.

I'm still really unsure of what the scam actually is despite getting an explanation. Seems silly.

  • +1

Thank you so so much for this! My two stores had stacks of cards (Vic coastal) i got 5 from one store 100 HIM cards, on one flybys. Another coles 3 more $100 on another flybuys. Got the switch 2 at JB using all 8 gift cards. Go overseas next week. So grand total of 20% off the switch 2. Very Happy!

    • Yaaaayyyyy holdup 20%?

      • Was scratching my head too but notice the comment about going overseas. So I guess Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) to get GST refunded.

  • Purchased one of these gift cards today not used these ones yet but plan on using one in a store coming days there is a clear plastic or something across the long number on card is this supposed to be peeled off or is it there to protect the long number?
Also like some cards you get can this be exchanged into a jb hifi card not they it matters just curious if you can and where.

  • Would I be able to use multiple gift cards at OW?

    • Absolutely.

Stack the purchase of these with a OnePass account, get your 5x FlyBuys points and you're laughin'

    • It depends on how you are shopping at Officeworks.

      • In-store: yes, but this is at the discretion of the checkout operator. In my experience, split payments are fine, although there were two occasions where checkout operators outright refused to do this for me.

      • Online: no. The Officeworks website cannot handle split payments between multiple gift cards, unless you are redeeming one Officeworks / Coles Group & Myer gift card first, then paying the remaining amount owed on one Ultimate gift card.

      • Over the phone at 1300 OFFICE: no. You can only use one Ultimate gift card per transaction.

If you have a look at the FAQ linked at the bottom of the deal description, it has a FAQ that goes into this topic in more detail.

      • Ok, I was referring to buying the gift cards + OnePass.

So if there is anything left over to pay when using the gift cards at OfficeWorks then you can double up and use the OnePass card again but at the discretion of the checkout operator?

        • How would you be able to use the OnePass card “again”?

          • This deal is for Coles, which does not participate in OnePass.

          • Officeworks also sells some Ultimate gift cards, but this deal is not available at Officeworks. You also cannot get Officeworks to match or beat this deal, because Officeworks lists the purchase of gift cards as an exclusion in their price-beat guarantee.

In short, you cannot use your OnePass card when purchasing any gift cards through this deal. You can only use the OnePass card when purchasing the item(s) you want to purchase at Officeworks.

Scanning a OnePass card in-store is completely independent of the redemption of one or multiple Ultimate gift cards in-store, so whether you present a OnePass card should not influence a checkout operator to allow or refuse a split payments request for redeeming multiple Ultimate gift cards.

Adding your Flybuys card (linked to your OnePass card) during the online checkout process will not change whether you can redeem one Officeworks / Coles Group & Myer gift card and one Ultimate gift card in one online transaction.

    • If you are buying in-store at JB then there's no need to exchange them at all. They just work like an eftpos card

        • Makes sense to exchange them if you are buying online. I wonder why they have a limit in the first place?

  • Is there a way to load the giftcards onto Apple Pay or similar?

I used these at JB HiFi to get a $3400 OLED. Needless to say, the checkout guy was with me for about 15 minutes as I scanned 68 of them 🤣

    • Yes, I use mine on Google Pay and just touch my phone to pay with each card. You should be able to add to Apple Pay the same way.

  • Want to double check something as I am planning to make a $900 purchase at JB but it has to be online as the item is not in store (and I know that online I can only use 1 Ultimate gift card)

If i get 9 of these Ultimate Him $100, can I exchange them online on the website for a JBHifi gift card. This will allow me to use multiple JB cards online. I went to the Ultimate website but when I try to hit exchange it asks me for a card number so I'm not sure if it can be exchanged into a JBHifi Gift card.

      • Legend thanks!

      • Hmm bought a card but it doesn’t seem to activate on the exchange. Keeps saying sorry this card has not been recognised

        • NVM the expiry date was actually 12/29; had to go to their website to get it sorted.

  • Another question, does anybody know whether we can use in Adidas store for stacking with other discounts?

    • I have used TCN cards (different company) to stack a further discount on Adidas at Harbour Town on the Gold Coast and had no issue at all, so I would presume that using an Ultimate Gift Card, as long as it is accepted by Adidas should be fine to use. :)

  • Can someone explain to me how these work? If i wanted to take the student deal gift card for use in office works, I just look for this card in Coles, scan in my FlyBuys card and i can get it discounted? Then if i decide to get something price matched at Officeworks i can use this to purchase said item?

  • Can you buy these GC and claim the 10% monthly discount (I have Cole’s insurance) ?

  • Purchased one of these gift cards today not used these ones yet but plan on using one in a store coming days there is a clear plastic or something across the long number on card is this supposed to be peeled off or is it there to protect the long number?
Also like some cards you get can this be exchanged into a jb hifi card not they it matters just curious if you can and where

    • I assume you are talking about the new style card where you need to peel a strip off when you purchase.

The number/barcode behind the clear plastic is only used for activation and to check balance. The clear plastic thing is to prove the card is genuine and make it harder for scammers to stick another barcode on top of it.

To pay with the physical gift card directly you swipe the magnetic strip and/or input the 16-digit visa number on the other side of the card.

You can exchange here https://exchangeyourcard.com.au Some retailers only let you exchange for fixed whole amounts, or a minimum amount, whereas when paying with the physical card directly the till can charge exact amounts, as long as they are willing to split payments.
