Take a wheelbarrow, buy 100kg for twenty bucks. Eat only watermelon for the next week.

    • This is a great idea!*

*If you want 80kg or so of rotten watermelon.

No no no seeds…, is it ripe ?, let me squeeze it…

While very cheap, you'll probably find something for this price every week here. It's the only way they compete with the woolies opposite them.
I used to work at this place before it recently became Earth Markets. People need to support local fruit and veg shops, as well as butchers and bakeries, as very soon they will be no more.

I used to work at this place

were you the one who removed the seeds ?

There must be a glut of them at the moment. In Melbourne I've seen seedless watermelon going for around 60c/kg in the last week. Usual selling price at the Vic Market is around $1.20/kg. I say go crazy on the stuff whilst it's cheap.

Great if you've got a juicer. Juice them and freeze into cubes. Great for fresh juices/smoothies/treat on a hot day.

  • Surely OfficeWorks can price match?

I've got a kombi van that you can use. Though you must take my two foreign student slaves, Bjorne and Hilda, with you. I'd prefer it if you left them there.

      • Two bigoted comments on the same thread. You're cruisin' for a bruisin'.

      • Why do I have the funny feeling ur being serious?

        Is the kombi diesel?

Whoa, there's Ozbargainers in my area… twitch

  • I was at costco on Friday, and they had a seedless watermelon for $7.99 omfg.

    • and i always giggle how so many ignorant people just head to costco expecting it is always cheaper than else where.

find a 125g chunk of watermelon at $0.19/kg = $0.02375, rounded down = free watermelon!!!

i'd only buy if it was a SEEDED watermelon.

…but you can't get those anymore… oh no!

only this mutated & genetically modified shit without seeds.

if i can't grow another plant with it i won't eat it. :P

    • For how long have these bastards been injecting steriods into the watermelons?

    • So you won't eat bananas?

    • Um yeah you can still get seeded watermelon…

    Insane Deal!

  • Great deal. Sam Cocos in clear island waters sometimes gets to even 9c / kg for the whole melons. You usually have to eat them the same day or toss them.

  • Reported that the price has raised to 49c/kg. Marked as expired.

  • I'm here, was surprised to see a local gold coast deal on the front page of ozbargain. Figured I'd stop by this afternoon. Is slightly out the way. The price has jumped to 0.49/kg :O thats over a 150% increase.

    • it'a an over 200% increase ;)

      • To make the math easy lets round $0.19 to $0.20 and $0.49 to $0.50

        $0.50 is 250% OF $0.20

To get to $0.50 from $0.20 you need $0.30; which is 150% OF $0.20

        ergo,

if you increase $0.20 by 150% you get $0.50

        • i'm saying the price is a 200% increase compared to the original, you are saying the price increased by 150%, there's a difference :)
