EDIT pies showing as $4 when not logged in to Woolies account but $7.50 when logged in. Presumably if this is available it will be in store only and may be location specific. Will try and check in store today.

Some half price Woolies deals. All in catalogue except national pies. Good deal on the pies in my opinion. Corn thins, Le snak, uncle Toby’s museli bars also 1/2 price this week. Full catalogue https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/catalogue?icmpid=sm-prnav…

  • Pies showing at $7.50, save 50c

    • Ugh must be region specific- I’m Gold Coast QLD. Will try and suss out which locations have it at $4

      • Vic here.

      • +1

Half-price specials for fresh National Pies are always region-specific.

The $4 special appears to only be available in NSW (excluding the Northern Rivers region), ACT and WA.

      • I'm on the GC too, and when I'm logged into my local store, they're showing at $7.50

    • Lol yes saw the 'Sale' sticker and was disappointed when it was a pathetic 50c off.. Vic too.

      • +2

It bothers me when stuff is marked with the big clearance sticker, so I look at it automatically ( bargain hunting is the only way I can afford food) and then it’s some bullshit that’s less than 1/2 off. Like cmon I think clearance and sale should be at least 40% or more off but eeehhh

    • $7.50 as well here in QLD (Logan)

  • Just tried a few stores in northern NSW

    Does come up half price.
    Coffs Harbour ✅️
But change to say Grafton ❌️

Strange strategy but maybe Qld and far northern NSW next catalogue.

I know border shops in Vic/NSW
Wodonga and Albury have mostly prices set for Vic.

    Have family there.

  • Are these pies any good ?

    • +2

Yes they are very nice. They are in the refrigerator section (not freezer). The beef ones are beef mince rather than beef chunks but the taste and texture etc is good.

      • Doesn't matter, not available in SA.

After reading all the hype online I had to try them. They are nice standard pies, but they have MSG, which is really disappointing considering there are plenty of other alternatives without this ingredient.

      • +2

        what’s wrong with msg?

      • +6

MSG occurs naturally in many foods including meat, tomatoes, cheese. I don't understand the fear of eating food with added MSG but ok with preservatives, additives, colouring, etc.
MSG has a bad rep due to misinformation and lack of understanding….

        • +3

          MSG = MAKES SHIT GOOD

sometime if you eat a lot of it you can get headaches and flushing, but otherwise msg goes very nicely with any savoury food. Makes the brain smile. It’s like if fentanyl were salt. :P

@Mingenibbler: well, TIL, I did some reading and found that you are right, and that a lot of the fear mongering came from racism rather than any scientific proof. Thanks folks.

To be fair though, I try to avoid additives as much as possible, whether that be MSG, yeast extract, soy protein, etc. and try to stick to less refined/real ingredients, so I wouldn’t personally buy this again, but each to their own!

  • Don't think these are available in SA.

  • Ben & Jerry's $7.25 not $7.90

  • +1

Pies showing half price for me in Sydney

  • +1

$4 here in QLD - lunch sorted

  • +1

The protein pudding isn’t half bad for a mostly guilt free snack

  • +2
