Isn't the v10 just newer and (presumably) better in every way?
It's two more, too.
V10's are harder to balance than V8's, since V8's are just 2 i4's mated together which are inherently balanced.
Whats the price difference between the units?
Would be the next question because you won't be getting a 'new V10' at that price point.
These are fine if you can get all your vacuuming done in 10 minutes, which is when the battery runs out. And even then, only if you don't need much suction power. If you have floorboards, look elsewhere. IMHO worth about $200.
I looking at buying one of those kogan vacuums for last than $150 at somepoint, thoights?
Ive tried some super cheap ones and they barely suck, the head gets jammed as the pipe is tiny. Okay for dust only, and if you want to go over things multiple times.
I'd just get a cheap V8 or something from a better brand.
The ozito stick vacuum is actually decent for 99 in a kit.
is it worth buying a shark instead?
also LG is discounted to $299 at the moment. https://www.betta.com.au/lg-cordzero-handstick-vacuum-with-m…
I think all the cordless stick vacuums work roughly as well as one another, so I am sure the Shark is fine. I am going to have to get a battery pack adapter for my Dyson so I can use spare Aldi powertool batteries (or jump to Ozito batteries and use those.) A second Dyson battery would also be a solution, but feels like throwing good money after bad since it can't be used with anything else.
Why not floorboards? I have them, no issues with vacuuming or scratches…..
Because the suction power on 'max' is still too weak to suck dust out from the gap between the floorboards. I can go over it with the Dyson, and it leaves loads behind from dust to crumb sized bits. If I then follow it with my corded vacuum, it picks it all up no problems.
The run time on Powerful suction mode [that's low power] is 25 minutes with the Motorised head, 30 minutes with the Mini motorised head, and 40 minutes with the combination tool and crevice tool.
Right, so I was overestimating, it is only 7 minutes on full power.
You guys are picky. Instant buy for me.
It's an absolute for under $400 and I have a V6 and V7 but my V7 has no fluffy head.
Whats the fluffy head is used for ?
Hard floors. The Fluffy cleaner head works better than the standard Motobar head: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq-Bg_AsF9o
Motorbar is a must if you have a household with lots of hairs, assuming it is the newer model which comes with the anti tangle hair vanes.
This is still a good buy over the v10 depending on your situation. My mum prefers the v8 over the v10 since it’s lighter on your forearm which makes the vacuuming feel easier. Even I like how lightweight and well balanced it feels compared to the v10. Also the fluffy head which the absolute version includes is amazing on hard floors.
For those on the fence…
I got the v8 origin extra for around $330, which I thought was a no brainer price. Soon realised that the v8 is only useful if you are using the right attachment for the task. For example, if you try to use the Motorbar Cleaner head to clean hardwood floors you'll need to go over the same spot 3-4 times compared to once had you used the Fluffy Cleaner Head.
I ended up buying a generic accessories set for $35 and Flylinktech fluffy head for $60. Since purchasing these, the v8 has been a pretty awesome vacuum. With generic accessories my total ended up being around $425…so I think the Absolute set at 399 is a bargain + every accessory is genuine.
Downsides:
short battery life and SLOW charging.
e.g. I need 2 full charges to vacuum my car. I can get the front half of the car done on 1 charge and the back half done with another. But it takes 5 bloody hours to charge the v8. So I have to plan my cleaning…do half the car in the morning and half later in the afternoon. This isn't a big of a deal after a while and you learn to segment your cleaning to suit the battery life. It's not a good buy if you are the sort of person that must get the cleaning done all in one go.
emptying the dust canister on the v8 is messy. I only empty it in the red bin when there is zero wind and i still breathe in fine dust particles.
IMO, these two accessories are a must and aren't included in the Absolute set:
Yes even the V6 fluffy is pretty good for hard floors (I hate carpets). I bought a cheap V7 origin with no fluffy a while back for $249 but I'm regretting not having fluffy for hard floors. It often just pushes stuff around the floor.
V8 is better that V6, heavier but still lighter than V10. I found my relative's V10 too heavy and in fact she dropped it and broke the handle making it an expensive ~$600 paperweight.
I found V10 is too heavy for me which pretty much covers anything after it since they are all based upon similar dimensions right? It's also too expensive most of the time (I got it for $700 with dok which I sold for $150 on ebay so I only ended up paying $550 for the V10 for my relative but I still wouldn't buy it again for that price)
For the people who have had experience with both the v8 and the v15, would you recommend I wait for a v15 deal and invest in that instead?
It's almost double the price, but I intend on using the vacuum for 5-8 years at least, so I'm wondering if I should just fork out a bit more for longer term value/better performance. For reference I live in a 2-bed apartment, all hard floor except carpeted bedrooms.
The V15 detect is the one to get. The fluffy head with the light is an absolute game changer for cleaning hard surface floors. Couldn’t go back to anything else.
Battery lasts at least 50 minutes on hard floor with eco settings (all you need). Not sure it can be replaced all that easily though.
I picked one up from Amazon for somewhere about $900, so a lot more money, but I am glad I paid it.
I use this vacuum:
https://cleanershub.com.au/product/pullman-advance-pv900-com…
but im young and this is heavy so I need to find one like this dyson v8 which my mother can use. can anyone give advice on a vacuum with similar specs (power weight etc) that doesn't cost as much if you have the knowledge, thank you.
I have been thinking of getting a backpack type since the Dyson is such a dud. Do you find that it protrudes a long way behind you though, bumping into stuff on shelves etc?
what a PITA…bought the V8 origin two days ago….and only delivered today….. now the absolute is on special today for only $30 more…. :(
Why is the V8 for $400 hot deal in middle of 2025?
It sucks.
I picked up a V8 very cheap on marketplace, took it apart then gave it good clean. Also picked up the Dyson fluffy optic head and now I can't unsee any dust lol. I also use the power tool adapter for my batteries so it's almost like unlimited runtime.
Too bad, love V10 more now
