Amazon Changes to Subscribe & Save Program

Amazon recently introduced variable discount rates (5% or 10%) for S&S discount, meaning a reduced discount of 5% on certain products.

Email:

"Hello, We're writing to inform you about changes to our Subscribe & Save program.

We are now introducing variable discount rates across our products. This means you will see different Subscribe & Save discounts (5% or 10%) on items when creating new subscriptions on our Store. You can view a product’s Subscribe & Save discount offering on its product detail page.

No action is required from you. Your current active Subscribe & Save subscriptions won’t change; you will continue to receive your existing discount rate until you cancel your subscription. You can modify or cancel your subscriptions at any time by visiting Manage Your Subscriptions:

https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/subscribe-and-save/manage

Thank you for being a valued Subscribe & Save customer."

Can't actually find any products that have been reduced yet….

Probably hasn't started to roll out just yet, maybe gauging customer feedback re: S&S.

Supercheap auto, Office works, and now Subcribe and Save. The enshitification is spreading.

They are lucky their prices are already low for bulk. But I foresee cancelling more items.

  • Still will probably use them because I couldn't be arsed buying bulky items from Coles or Woolies, but for regular stuff I'll use them less.

  • My amount of orders on Amazon has definitely decreased over the last 12 months.

They also used to do 15% off baby products which was recently reduced to 10%. For the first time in five years, I did my stock up of nappies at Woolies because I got my 10% off and then 4% using gift cards… thankfully should only have another few months of having to buy them… fingers crossed!

  • Judging by the thread where some users are getting free prime for a year, I guess no one's boycotting them, Amazon can do whatever they want.

  • Profits must increase every year, forever

  • This is what happens when people subscribe just for the extra discount and cancel the subscription quickly. Whatd you think would happen when it gets abused?

    • +2

What did they think would happen when S&S doesnt hold pricing at the price you enter in at, but rather the variable price at the time of the subscription renewing?

    • +1

Not entirely correct. I've had numerous instances of Amazon cancelling my S&S, due to items becoming unavailable.

All so Bezos can buy another mega yacht.

  • Just as long as they dont get rid of the 'subscribe and cancel straight away' loop hole.
