      • gotta get squirrelly if y want folk to aliterate in they head but it's true i am an ass

        • Haha, sorry I wasn't really calling you an ass. I was just repeating what my old science teacher used to say all the time. Shit, that was over 40 years ago and I haven't heard it or said it since. It's funny how much stuff you remember from your younger years without even realising it, till you do. RIP Mr Coggan.

          • @whitey: pour one out for mr coggan!

I dunno why I read that as wedding helmut…

    • +1

Probably when you saw the price you assumed it was for a wedding item. Anyone here who's paid for a wedding (I've paid for 2) will know exactly what I mean.

These are great helmets BTW, not for your weekend warrior but if you're a pro you can't go wrong with one of these.

      • Just out of curiosity, why not for the weekend warrior?
Is that just because of the price (can't justify if not making money from your work), or are there some features/capabilities that make it difficult to learn with?

        • +2

Purely the price only. You can buy a great welding helmet for around $150 for general use, that $850 difference would be better spent on a better welder for most amateurs imho, or a welding course.

          • @whitey: :-) "or a welding course".
Fair point - thanks for your reply.
