Jamo SUB 260 Subwoofer £321.77 Delivered from AudioAffair, UK

50

For those who bought the Jamo S 426 HCS 3 Wenge 5-Piece Home Theater System from Amazon.com, here is a perfect match sub woofer delivered from UK for use with Australian power supply directly.

Specifications from the web.

Equipped with a long-throw 8-inch woofer housed in a slotted-port-cabinet, it provides the foundation for outstanding performance. With an amplifier capable of 260W of peak power this subwoofer can deliver higher sound-pressure levels at lower distortion, resulting in maximum musical fidelity and reproduction of details.

The strong 8-inch driver uses a very rigid cone made of composite materials, allowing very high excursion with low distortion. The large motor structure features a well ventilated pole-piece, which help cool the voice-coil, increasing power handling and reducing distortion by eliminating unwanted mechanical damping and air-pressure from the system.

The amplifier technology combines the classic sound of high quality analog amplification with the efficiency and power delivery of modern digital technology. The end-result is a subwoofer that provides a welcome addition to any sound-system, be it classic stereo or a full blown surround-sound set-up.

Seems rather expensive given the specs no?

    • -1

      Which specs exactly?

Cant really judge speakers by their specs.

      • +1

        It's only an 8 inch?

its US$430 delivered from amazon USA

    • Remember US equipment is rated for 110V only.

    • +2

Actually it's $419aud roughly, and I don't understand why you are being negged for this comment (was about to point it out myself). Not all equipment on Amazon US is exclusively for 110 volt, and apparently many Jamo subs may be dual voltage. For $70aud difference, it's worth having a chat with Amazon US to confirm the voltage.

I did some research before I bought my 210 from Amazon UK, looks like the 260 is single voltage. My 210 is single 220V.

I've found traditionally, most audio equipment sold out there is single voltage for some reason. I've seen dual voltage versions of a lot of equipment out there, but it's often sold in smaller quantities only in certain parts of the world, and they're often clearly labeled as such.

That's about $493 AUD for this Jamo… Is this supposed to be a bargain? JB Hi Fi have an 8" Yamaha for $278 and a Sherwood 10" for $278 as well… and the Wharfedale 10" is for $417

    • -1

That's the most illogical thing I have ever heard.

      • -3

Good to know that asking a question is, according to you, illogical.

This is a cheaper 8" Jamo powered sub from Amazon. Ships to Australia. About US$279 landed.
    www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004BE81BQ/

    • It does say 100-120 VAC and not apparently switchable to 240, pity

      • A step down transformer 240V to 110V can be got for around $26, making the US Amazon Jamo a much better bargain indeed.

        • yeah but the standard group think of ozbargain has taken over

    • Whats the difference between the 210 http://www.amazon.com/Jamo-SUB-210-Subwoofer/dp/B004QD002A/ and the 210 8 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004BE81BQ/...seems the 210 8 is slightly cheaper..?

    • The Sub 210 (US model) is definitely 110 volts only, you can use a 200watt stepdown but this will impact it's power efficiency and the cheaper switch mode stepdowns are too noisy for audio equipment, a suitable stepdown will be closer to $90

  • I was tossing the idea between 210 and 260 SUBs with and without colour matching.

Finally decided that I'll have the 260 based on this review http://www.trustedreviews.com/jamo-s426-hcs-3-sub-260_Surrou…

It is fair that if you don't want colour matched or happy with US power supply adaptor (I am not 100% sure if a step up transformer is required for the US item), you can get them cheaper in Amazon.

not cheap for an 8inch sub. I have a good condition used 10" sub for sale if anyone is interested. Will do $370 pickup
