5 for $50 Multibuy: Diced Beef 500g, Beef Mince 800g, Cottage Pie 1.2kg, Chicken & Bacon Pasta Bake 1.2kg @ Coles (Online Only)

780

A bunch of convenience meals or meats 5 for $50 at Coles. Items are normally $12-15 each. This will easily do a week of dinners plus lunch leftovers for my small family. There’s also free range schnitzels, Thai meatballs, various pasta bakes included in the deal.

If you click in on one product then the link that’s says 5 for $50 it will show all options.

The diced beef is really convenient in the slow cooker and it’s better quality than casserole beef. Virtually no prep. I recommend one pack of spice tailor spicy goan curry kit per 500g beef in the slow cooker. I don’t even brown the meat first just chuck it all in and it makes a delicious spicy beef curry.

If you add more than 5 items, any additional qualifying items become $10 as well :) (eg. 6 for $60, no need to add another 5 for the special pricing).

Excellent deal esp with how expensive food is these days. I don’t have an oven or slow cooker but am gonna figure out which of these to cop and combine with the coles saver discount ❤️👑

Get a cast iron pot and use a low setting on your stove, no need for a slow cooker.

The French pan is ideal if you want to fry/sear and slow cook all in the same pot

      • Ooooh - hey, are those pots heavy by chance? This one time I tried to lift a cast iron skillet and genuinely couldn’t do it

Big L for muscle atrophy haha

The room for error is much lower, burning shit in a slow cooker is less likely to happen

        • +1

Slow cooker will use less energy too

  • This was also available last week, ordered the cottage pie and meatball pasta bake, haven't tried yet…. Should've bought the diced beef as well :(

  • When calculated this deal is…

5 packs of mince is not bad, stock up before the price rises

Should stack with the $50 over 4 weeks to get 10000 points ($50 value) to get a max of 25% back in flybuys dollars.

    Just go to a butcher….

Thanks OP. Got 3x each of the meatball and chicken pasta bakes. This will last me for the next 2 weeks at least.

Combine with the 3 months free Coles Plus and Coles Plus saver.

    • 10% off one shop
    • 2x Flybuys Points
    • $50 spend over 4 weeks Flybuys Promo
    • Free Rapid delivery (34 minutes for me)

$55 for 24 servings of food delivered to my door in half an hour is a bargain in my books.

The macros and ingredients look very decent for convenience meals. I've got a pretty hectic schedule and this will be much healthier and cheaper than takeout when I'm feeling tired.

Any way you "Slice it or Dice it" … its a good deal ;-P

Best bang for bucks is family meatball pasta bake, $15 each so to get 5 for $50 is a massive savings of $25 or 33% off

    • +1

Only if it tastes good… It definitely looks appealing.

The one I received today has an expiry of 13/06 fyi.

…and best bang for the buck was to order earlier in the week to stack with 15% off.

Sucks that they are building an unavoidable $1.5 charge into their delivery cost for their paper bags with no option to opt out even for free deliveries. I'd be happy to take delivery with no bags, I do t use bags when I shop in store either.

    • +2

Might make it more difficult for the delivery driver with no bags.

  • Family meatball pasta bake is seemingly best value but not for everyone.

I think the portions are decent, especially if you have some garlic bread and a salad or something as a side.

The sauce reminds me of what you get in kids pasta (though my kids said they much prefer my spaghetti sauce). It's too sweet for me.

Overall good value, but if you only like proper Italian pasta dishes, you may want to skip this one.

Ordered 6x chicken bacon pasta, but they only had 4x in stock so got substituted 2x meatball pasta instead. As soon as I picked up the order, immediately turned round and returned the meatball ones for full price, so essentially got 4x1.2kg chicken bacon pastas for $30.

Half of these aren't even available or stocked at either of our local Coles
$11 and $12 packs aren't a big enough saving to buy 5 in one hit

    • There’s only one thing that’s $11 everything else is $12+. I also stacked with my minimum $50 shop for 4 weeks which will land me $50 of points. Will do a second load now I’m in the second week before the sale ends. Got one mince, two diced beef, one chicken bacon Mac and cheese and one cottage pie. All were in stock and pick up was easy. I suppose it depends on your local store and what you like to eat.

For our family this works really well. We had the beef in a curry today and there’s plenty of leftovers but prep was 5mins,

No cottage pie, no pastas, very small choice unfortunately

Be good for easy dinners for shift work otherwise

  • Need someone to be the guinea pig and report back on which meals are good! I mean uhh.. I want someone to experience the deliciousness first.. so that we can all be jealous of you.. yeah that's it.

      nailed it!

  • ordered 5 and got one that expires on 8/6. Others expire 14/6 (chicken bacon) and 24/6 (cottage pie). Complained to customer service and they said their policy is only 3 days. Woolworths wouldve just given a refund. not a fan.

    • +2

Wait… You ordered refrigerated meals one came with 6 days, three with 10 days and one with 22 days and you’re upset?!

What would this have looked like if you bought in store?

That’s why I planned out fresh meals with the beef and mince and how many pre-made meals would be reasonable to use in a week.

This is just a bulk buy grocery deal, not a make your groceries last longer than they would deal. If you want that just go for frozen products.

      • sorry - shouldve been more clear. I complained about the 8/6 one not the others. I think complaining about the 8/6 one is fair when the other ones had longer expiry.

If I bought in store I would've chosen the ones with the longest expiry - that's why i rarely buy stuff I'm picky about for delivery because they aren't really 'personal' shoppers.

        • I think that’s the thing with online shopping for groceries. You can’t choose and pick out the longest dates or the nicest looking fruit etc. you trade convenience for choice. 6 days actually seems pretty decent to me for a fresh not frozen meal. I bought my lot with the expectation that I would need to use it within the week and anything extra would be a bonus.
