FujiFilm FinePix XP50 $115 - Officeworks

110

Cheapest waterproof, shockproof, dustproof and freezeproof camera. Everywhere else seems to be selling these for $150+

My local Officeworks didn't have stock, so i went to Harvey Norman to price match.. And I got to choose what colour i wanted. In my opinion, orange is the nicest and easiest to find on the bottom of a pool or ocean floor ;-)

"Everywhere else seems to be selling these for $150+"?

DSE are selling them for $128
    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XG0880/fujifilm-xp50-digital…
and you can find grey imports for much less:
    http://www.citiwideonline.com/au/index.php?page=shop.product…

    • I was basing this off targets price of $150, harvey normans instore price of $179 (when I purchased it was labeled $218 on the box), and big w's price of $208 for the xp30 (model below xp50). I needed it for a trip next week, so i wasn't willing to wait for shipping. For warranty purposes, its easier to go with a well known walk in store rather than an online based grey imports site.
Nonetheless, this is still cheaper than anyone else with aus stock. This camera also apparently rates better than the lower end olympus tough model

  • Bought one the other day when I noticed it dropped to $115 from $140, pretty decent price drop. There was a heap of other Fuji price drops yesterday as well, especially the Fujifilm T200 dropped from $198 to $118 at Harvey Norman when the cheapest on staticice appears to be $184.

It's shock proof so it could survive the drop ;)

  • freezeproof ?

  • Dont buy one, I bought one from HN last year from a deal off OZBargain, wished I hadnt as the camera rattles and yes you can hear it on videos…

    • Can anyone else who already has it comment on a rattle?

Only 5 times optical zoom ……. that would annoy the heck out of me. Seems like a great price though for a waterproof camera.

      • Not sure about the XP50, but bought the XP30 BOGOF offer with a mate and he doesn't like it.

Personally, have brought it to the snow/trips/fishing/snorkling and everything works. No rattling for me though.

Have taken some decent photos, but most of them are ordinary. Do not expect super quality photos with this camera. Better off using the high-end smartphones' camera instead :).

I needed a cheap waterproof compact camera and this one suits.

      • 5x optical zoom is actually great for Waterproof camera. Most have either 3x or no zoom at all (ie. digital zoom only).

I got one last week at OW when I noticed the price drop ;) They only have blue and Dick Smith refused to price match on orange (that I wanted). Anyway, so far it's great camera for the price. Got it for my 5 year old son. Waterproof, shockproof, and at this price, should be safe enough for kids. It also has this SR AUTO mode that does everything for them based on the scene it detects so kids don't have to fiddle with any settings :)

  • Bought this 2 weeks ago from HN for $135.

  • do your research on this camera first, i know a lot people who have had this model and had it fail during water usage (and yes the seals where all closed but water still managed to get inside), i have a similar model olypus (cant spell lol) tough camera and so far no issues except when snorkling you can see the lcd screen it looks just like a mirror under water so its pretty much click and hope

    • My mate and about 2-3 other people that I know must be the lucky ones. We are aware of the seal issue, but so far (almost 2 years I've had it) no issue with water leaks. Have used it under water for about 6 holidays. Still works very well. But very average water shots :). Fingers' crossed.

  • Great camera - went to the La Tomatina (Tomato fight) in Spain with the xp30 and it held up pretty well!

    • There you go - tomatoproof as well!

  • I had the XP10 and about 11 months in the shutter button broke. Took it back to Dick Smith and they sent it off to Fuji who couldnt repair it so they gave me a new XP30. Sure it doesn't take the sharpest photos but for a shockprook, waterproof, freezeproof camera for that price its pretty good. Ive taken it to the snow, the beach, off jumps and its handled it all well. The only 'rattles' I get with the XP30 is if you zoom in while taking a movie you can hear the lens move and thats it. Also I've used one of the olympus tough cameras which was far more expensive and I thought the picutre quality of the fuji was much better.

  • Was going to grab one… sold out :*(

    • It still works fine.. not sold out :-)

  • Sold Out. Just called and was told 2 in Bondi & 1 in Nowra. That is it for NSW in store.

  • Because it's up on the Officeworks site, just go elsewhere and price match it. The Officeworks site doesn't say sold out. Harvey Norman didn't even call Officeworks. Chances are you can still get this deal. Show it on your smartphone.

  • AH yes Mine leaked a bit (I think, the lens fogged up once)but that was after a whole day at Waterbomb park, Bali, I leave the lid open now so as it doesn't put pressure on the seal all the time (thats my theory and Im sticking by it) when not in use.

It takes great photos im happy with that even under water, but not happy about the weird rattle it has inside when you shake it.
