Cue the comments on this not being a real RTW fare.

This is not a real RTW fare.

    • @tensionday

Ugh I upvoted but would never travel east around the world

    • This, plus also this is not a real RTW fare.

    • Mind sharing why? Orbis there a benefit flying west instead?

      • +11

Jet lag hits you travelling east. If you fly to Europe via Asia you are fine, but if you fly back via Asia you get jet lag. My best trip was a round the world flying to to Europe via Asia and flying to Australia via the us.

        • Ooooo thanks for that!

        • +1

Completely agree. I find it much easier to handle longer days rather than shorter ones

This, plus also this is not a real RTW fare.

This is not a real RTW fare.

    • +3

A real RTW fare this is not.

      • This is a real RTW fare…….NOT

  • +28

Nope, nope, won’t ever consider travel to the US.
Stay out of there if you can. These deals aren’t worth being detained at El Salvador for.

    • +11

Bonus flight to el salvador??? Sounds peefect for an ozbargainer!!!

      • +2

        It’s a 1 way flight though

        • +3

          Free accomodation and food!

          • +1

            @mbck: Free “Accomodation” and “food”

        • yay no jet lag

If you fly into one US city and out of another US city the system may flag you for an SSSS on your boarding pass.
The "SSSS" on your boarding pass stands for Secondary Security Screening Selection. It's used by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to indicate that a passenger has been selected for additional security screening before boarding their flight.

It's happened to me a couple of times and it was no big deal but that was before Trump 2.0.

Can I sub out US and put Canada in the game?

        track one, labcabin

I could actually make this work as in due to spend some time in the Americas later this year.

OP what are the fare rules to making these flights work? Because I do have a friends wedding in India to attend on the back end of the trip and would be happy to make my own way to/from Singapore or make my own way from Europe to India and fly home from India but both options seem to blow out the cost.

Former travel agent so give it to me straight!

1 month to have a superficial look around the world, what a time to be alive 🥴

  • What a great R.T.W. deal, thx

  • +5

The problem with this RTW flight is having to go to the US. Is anyone going to risk going to the US and being stuck or banned by their Gestapo Immigration?

    • -3

Cos Aussies are wild when out? Seems new aye.

    • -1

100% agree with you. I will never travel to the USA.

    • -1

Yep, zero interest in stepping foot in that shithole.

    • +2

The worst thing about the US is their tipping culture - paying 20%+ everytime you move.

  • +2

What’s with the ‘make your own way’ in a RTW flight? It’s just three separate flights

    • +2

Hence all the ' this is not a real RTW fare' comments

    • +1

It's an IKEA set with missing screws, sold as is.

  • +1

Is there a way to do RTW without travelling through the USA? I want nothing to do with that country and certainly don’t want to spend my money there. Can I go through Canada or Mexico instead?

    • +1

You can't even transit thru the USA without paying them for a visa. Outrageous. Even without that fee, there'd be airport fees, and so I too am looking to avoid.
South America can be had via London, Amsterdam.

    • Every time you go to overseas, USA makes money, currency always changes from AUD to USD then to the currency of your choice

      • -1

        Such is reserve currency status.
Hopefully another currency (most likely either Euro or Renminbi) takes its place soon after the whole Trump fiasco.

  • What is this world travel means? Free many country travel?
