Need Amex to come to the 🥳, got cheapest tyre deal that way.

      • What's a Brigestone?

        • Mikelin or Konti

        • +2

its a TV show on Netflix

      • There, generally, is an inverse logarithmic correlation between tyre quality and price.

If it's an inverse correlation cheap tyres should be better.

        • Typo, high q vs low price…

    • How w/ amex?

  • +3

Get ready for the website to crash, tyres to be sold out…

    • +1

Got through fairly easy this morning.. queue was 1min. Confirmation of booking received.

  • +32

Unless you're desperate wait for the 50% off in November.

    • +2

Pirelli Australia sent out a notification of price adjustment yesterday, on average wholesale prices will be increasing by 5% across the range, so they may not be any cheaper if you're waiting until November

  • Excellent timing. I was just wondering when is the mycar tyre sale coming.. now I know.

    Thank you very much.

  • +4

Sorry, but what a joke -

my tyres are $500 or less at any shop but $800 with Mycar

    edit;
    PER TYREEEEEEE

    • +1

      It was ever thus.

    • +2

With 40% off Mycar is still cheaper. Also does that $500 include fitting and balancing?

    • -1

I would wait for the 50% sale if possible on Black Friday.

However, when I have been tyre shopping, the prices for pirellis and continental etc seem comparable with Bob Jayne, beaurepairs etc at normal times.
You must have one specialist type of tyre.
For example, my previous continentals were about 2400 for four no matter where I looked. The Pirelli scorpions were similar. But got 4 on the Black Friday sale 40km ago for $1200 fitted.

They would not last as long as the continentals, but at that price they don’t have to.

    • +3

Same PZ4 for my car was $359 down from $599. I can get Pilot sport 5s elsewhere for around $389, rather spend extra and be on Michelins over Pirellis.

      • +1

having had both - I agree 100% - Michelin Pilot Sport 4 or 5 are the tyre to have. My Pirellis I had prior seemed to wear out fast

    • +1

Yeah it looks like they jacked the RRP prices this year. $599 for a single 265/70/17 is a joke.

      • What in the monster truck size uses that tyre ?

  • +1

So the tyre needs to be in stock at the dealer to get the discount right? So if it’s not available immediately I assume you won’t get the discount?

  • Seems all the ones local to me have barely any pirelli's in my size anyway.

    • They'll order them in

      • +1

        The terms state

        “any in stock Pirelli tyres”

So the store needs to have stock of the tyres. All my stores within 20 km don’t. I might have to expand my search.

        • +10

I'm fairly sure they mean the supplier. I've taken up the 50% off offer twice before and they've ordered them in both times.
Book them via the 13 number

  • Normally have Bridgestone turanza on my sv6 commodore.

    Looked up the pirelli powergy

    https://www.mycar.com.au/tyres/pirelli/powergy

    Will these be ok?

We don’t drive much in the country. Just commuting and shopping.

    • Similar use case as you. I've had the Powergy for 6 months and been very happy with them.

    • +2

My Astra RSV came with turanza tyres and while very hard wearing they were borderline dangerous in the wet . Moved to Pirelli C2 and they are marginally quieter and far better in the wet . Better tyre all round ..
      It's been 2 years and 40k and look s like I'll get another 20k easily , 90% Freeway use . YMMV ..

      • +11

It's funny that "YMMV" is actually used literally in this context.

    • +1

Have powergy on my BMW 2 series. They are great. Probably like the pzeros a little more but these are still very good for the price you pay.. I think they wear out a little quick though.

      • Quick compared to the PZeros?

Quick compared to the Turanza I'm guessing.

        • Quicker than PZeros sorry about that

          • @maverickjohn: Faaaaark. I only get 15-20k kms max out of PZeros. I've had nearly 100k kms out of Turanza tyres. Both on different cars though.

            • @MS Paint: I got around 40k on pzero, i've driven the powergy for 12k and they are already half worn

              • @maverickjohn: My last set of pzero’s lasted 18400 km in the 235/50/r19 spec m01.

The tires are soft but I can’t fault them. Not once did they ever loose grip when cornering rain or shine. Now running pilot sports and while better I’d say it’s not by a huge margin and for the significant price difference you pay for the privilege of saying you run pilot sport's.

                • @Kiato: Running Pzeros as well on my SQ5, grippier than a gecko

    • I got the same Pirelli Powergy tyres on my sv6 commodore 2x years ago and they have been very good (grip, handling and they stick on the wet)
I've done about 10,000km and I feel they will go easily over 20,000km

I have to say they have less thread than the Hankook ventus prime 2 that I had before, which did over 40,000km with a comparable thread left.

If you can wait until black friday deal in November, otherwise go for it.

      • I read the powergy just ship with less tread, soemthing like 6mm instead of 10. Almost like havibg a half worn tyre, so I opted for the Cintaurato p6, they wear great and seem fine to me, as I drive like a grandpa anyway

  • +12

Lol make sure they actually give you the model you ordered and paid for. The jokers at Northland mycar gave me two of the tyres I paid for and another 2 from a cheaper lower model because they 'didnt have enough stock' without telling me.

    • +2

I would be fuming! I had my tyres done at Northland Mycar once too, they changed a punctured Continental to another model of the tyre, probably because they didn't have in stock. I couldn't tell that at the time

      • +13

Yep and had the galls to try to convince me they were the same despite selling them at different prices on their own website. Couldn't answer questions when I asked won't they wear out at different rates too since they're different tyres. When I was not having it, they then told me oh it'll be 6 months before new stock comes in, and then I said put back the original tyres and refund me, suddenly they rang around and found stock in other shops and got them transferred over. Bunch of cowboy jokers

        • +4

I had an identical experience. Lying mofos

    • That’s really dodgy

  • +15

40% off the current jacked up prices?

    • I can get 4 tyre for my sv6 commodore for $960
With this 40% off the price is pretty good.

  • I just got told by my mechanic that my tyres need to be changed sometime in the next 10,000km. Should i wait for a Black friday sale in November?

    • How many kms do you travel per year?

    • yes

    • +1

If you know you won't do ~10,000kms… just buy the tyres in november & keep rescheduling fitment until you're due

    • +6

Fun fact, when your tyres are bald they turn into slicks. F1 cars use slicks

      • +3

Mechanic said I badly needed new tires, and I shared this fact with him 1 year later when I still had the same tires: he did not find it very fun. His apprentice loved it though!

      • Back in the day we used to ride on tyres until you could see the steel belts. Never had a blow out

  • +5

In general, check your nuts before give your car to the mechanic. They may damage your nut and blame the brake guy.

    • +13

Just checked my nuts, both seem in good order. Thanks for the tip.

      • "Thanks for the tip."
        that's what she said…..
        .

        • If it's just the tip does it even count?

        • Just the tip?

    • +2

Also worth checking they're at a reasonable tightness when you get the car back - have had a flat before and the nuts were so tight that the factory wheel brace was just rounding the nuts off trying to undo them, have also previously bent a few cross wheel braces undoing wheel nuts on cars because they've been super tight.
Also you could have the opposite issue where they forget to do one or more nuts up tight enough and they cause a nut (or worse the whole wheel) to fall off.

    • They damaged my stud and nut at Mycar Berwick

    Pirelli Scoprion Verde (MO) - 235/55 R19 101V - Mycar (today) - $498
    After 2min of searching - Tyrebay - $293

There is no deal here - just price jacking & fake discounts.

    • +10

That's what happens when you drive a Mercedes 😉

Now to be fair does tyrebay include delivery and fitment/balancing (I'm assuming they are an online store)?

      $498-40% = $299 delivered/fitted/balanced

      $293+delivery+fitting/balance = $???

      • damn, you might be right there…

        • +2

The 40% off is from manufacturers RRP, not 40% off the regular street/sale price.

You'll most likely be ahead with this mycar deal but probably closer to 20% compared to everyday prices.

  • +2

    PIRELLI P ZERO PZ4 255/40r20
    Apr price was 725
    Now 765 less 40%
    Damn you jack

Will wait until Bob Jane black tyre month, last year it was 363

    • +1

Manufacturers RRP for tyres, in general, have gone up in price a fair bit over the last 24 months.

      • +6

Manufacturers RRP for tyres everything, in general, have gone up in price a fair bit over the last 24 months.

        Fixed that for you :)

  • Damn I just ordered cinturato p7 from them last week, although haven't paid yet. Wonder if they would still give me the discount.

    • Similar situation. I forgot they usually do EOFY tyres. Will pay them a visit than calling for a bigger chance haha.

  • -1

I bought/fitted two new Pirelli Tyres from MyCar, both of them are nearly two and half years old already, not happy.

    • If they are stored correctly by the manufacturer or wholesaler then it's not really a big issue. Whether they were though is a great unknown.

Do you have odd/not popular tyre dimensions? If so it's not unusual to receive older tyres.

    • -1

“Both are nearly two and a half years old already”. Is that what you don’t like about them? Did the tyres speed up time to make those years go too fast?

      • +3

Tyres start degrading the moment they’re made, which is why all car tyres have their manufacture date stamped into the sidewall.

If I bought “new” tyres that had been made more than two years ago, I’d be pissed.

      • -6

There is a legal requirement to replace tyres after a certain period - they expire. For NSW it’s 10 years meaning the owner will need to replace after 7.5 years if they’re already 2.5 years old. Might not be a problem for many but for a car that’s rarely driven, it is.

        • +1

Show us exactly where it states in NSW law or any Australian law that tyres must be younger than 10 years old

        • +2

There is a legal requirement to replace tyres after a certain period - they expire

I do enjoy when someone claims something so factual like an actual law, yet is so incorrect :)

        • That’s a wife you’re referring to, it’s the 7 year itch.

      • They were already 2.5 years old when they were fitted.

      • -1

        You can still delete this

    • You probably got dodgy tires from the manager who got it elsewhere

    • Mate old rubber is not good rubber!

      • -1

Yeah it'd be quite an inconvenience if the old rubber burst at the climax of your journey.

        • LMAO! nice.

  • How much is the fitting cost?

    • +4

How much is the fitting cost?

If only they had a website that you could go to to easily find out that information..

  • +1

Every year this crap happens, every year they pull the tyres for my car as soon as the sales starts.

    • You can get some locking wheel nuts to make it harder for them.

  • I've never managed to get tyres through this deal

    Waste of time.

    • +2

then are you even an ozbargainer? i guess it’s hard if they pull unique sizes off the website during sale - but 2 years ago, was very happy with the P Zero’s i got that I managed to stack with Amex offer.

      • bully for you.

I recently got 4 P Zeros for my I20N that were not far off this deal. Bob Jane's.

  • +2

    And just when Inter lost

  • +3

PIRELLI P ZERO (PZ4) (T0) XL ELT NCS 104Y is 705 at mycar but 589 at jax. Prices are jacked.

    • Thats what happens when you drive a Tesla 😉

Is the $705 after the 40% off? Surely not.

      • Before but not much of a 40% off sale if the prices start at 20% more than everyone else.

        • Mycar is now displaying manufacturers RRP.

Jax is showing their competitive everyday price.

The title should read 40% off RRP @sallyj

receive a discount of 40% off the recommended retail price of those Pirelli tyres (Offer Tyres) subject to these Terms and Conditions.

          Edit: title fixed by mods
