[VIC, NSW, QLD, SA] $42 Electricity Credit in Jul for $30, $43 Credit in Aug for $30 @ Powershop

670

Details screenshot here

They have sweeten their monthly offer again for winter. 👍

Basically you prepaid $30 by 30 June for $42 worth of credit for your first bill issued on/after 1 July 2025, and prepaid $30 by 30 June for $43 worth of credit for your first bill issued on/after 1 August 2025.

You may use your federal gov rebate or whatever credit you have to purchase, which means you don't even need to pay an extra cent.

For those who are new to Powershop, consider this $200 bonus credit deal.
Also you may stack with $75 referral credit.
Their sign up bonus may not apply to the cheapest plan available to you, but you may change your plan as soon as you get the bonus, which is pretty much on day 1 or day 2.
If you forget to apply your referral code, don't worry, just give them a call. Their CS is really friendly, waiting time is always short. Your referrer may also need to call them, just a confirmation of details, won't take long.

I've helped OZB members who PM me for this reason and we both got $75 right after we called the hotline.
With gov rebate + Sign up Credit + Referral Credit + Powerpacks, I have been enjoying free power for months.

After your purchase, the app shows "$30 available from 1 July".
Don't worry, you will see the full amount of $42 on your July bill.
It's a bit confusing but it's just how their app is poorly designed.

To me, their rate is not the cheapest on the market, but because I don't use much energy, my bill is 5% cheaper than the other provider with the cheapest rate, after this $12 free credit. (i.e. Powershop becomes my cheapest provider after taking account of this powerpack.)

July Future Pack
Imagine being on top of your bills with a pocketed bonus credit next month for June!
Receive a $12 bonus credit when you pay today for power you’ll use in July.
Simply purchase our Future Powerpack before the end of the month and you are done!

Terms and Conditions
This purchase provides credit off your future bill. The amount purchased will be applied to your bill at the end of the billing period it applies to, and any excess amount will roll over to the next period. The purchase does not lock in rates. Your rates are applicable at the time of your bill, not at the time of purchase. This Powerpack is only available in the Shop until 11:59pm 30 June 2025.

    Most expensive power supplier

    • I agree. I don't see why your comment was negged when you raised a valid concern.

      All consumption 49.12c/kWh

I currently pay 35.28c/kWh with another retailer.

      • True, i have switched to red energy with 31.625 c/KWH for anytime use and 83.028c for daily charge along with 10k qantas points as i only have electricity in my place. If you have referral, then both wiill get 25$ value gift card or 1,500 qantas point. Actually wanted to switch to AMPOL as its rates are lower, but AGL acquired AMPOL and I believe soon AGL rates will apply in AMPOL

It's not the most expensive for everyone. I'm paying 25.42c/kwh with power shop

      • Yep, I didn't realise how bad it'd gotten for me, reading your comments prompted me to do another Vic Energy Compare and check my bill. Powershop were in the top 2 when I switched to them, but just found i'm now on $1.4181/day and $0.3542/kWh flat rate, my daily charge is massive! There's far better deals around so i'm switching immediately to OVO or Globird.

        21.85c/KWh and 83c/day

    • At least for me, the $200-$300 credit will get eaten in a month as the usage charges are 30%-60% more expensive and the daily supply is 80% more expensive, with FIT at 1.4c vs existing 7c. Not worth the hassle.

Thanks OP for the stacking deal if rates are good for your area.

    • Yeah they started out great, then increased their rates substantially!
We've moved to OVO energy now.

      Not for me
22.33c per kWh all day except between 12-2pm when it is free.

      $1.10 supply
      5c solar feed in

      • How did you get onto the between 12-2pm it’s free? Is that a plan they offered you?

        • I'm on the EV day plan

      • Ditto.

Down here in Victoria, I've been with them since August as they were the best deal with their credits and currently remain the cheapest for me.

        • Same 22c all day for me with 2 hours free

  • Who owns Powershop these days? Are they still 5 star?

  • Poweshop is not even coming up on first page of top on https://compare.energy.vic.gov.au/

Or everyone is using them for signup bonus only?

  • +1

YMMV so as always double check rates if Powershop is suitable for you. I took up the $200 and stacked with $75 referral deal and the credits lasted me 4 months (low user here).

Will be looking up rates and likely churn for other sign up credits once I use up all credits with Powershop.

  • More than my current provider by 6c kwh and 50c daily supply charge.
    Absolute insanity.

Thanks that’s a nice credit for June and July

Powershop are one of the best for me. 26c and free ev charging for two hours a day. $25 of free credit for July and August is a nice bonus.

  • Does anyone know what happens if you move and terminate your power with them? Do you get the original amount refunded?

    • +1

Yes they will refund the $ you paid.

      • Cheers. Only within 60 days of signing up, like they say on their website? Or did you hold your contract longer than that?

  • Powershop doesn't recognise my address nor my National Meter Identifier (NMI) … too hard bro

and the reason is -> This plan isn't available in your postcode :( Blue Mountains NSW

  • Thanks for highlighting this. I'm with them due to their EV plan working with my plug-in hybrid and allows me to be on a ToU plan but with fixed rates and 2 hours free power a day

  • Ampol looking like the best one atm

    • Did you get any signup credits?

      • no

        • I think they can consider giving signup credits to attract many customers just like other energy suppliers.

          • @Chhaava: maybe but i've been with them since almost day 1

  • Powershop's online portal is so damn confusing

  • 20% price increase, time to leave this deal

  • How do you change plans OP? How many referral credits can you get and also how do you generate your own referral link?

    • just give them a call.
referral program info can be found in their app.

      • Can you refer more than one person to get multiple referral bonus?

        • Yes you can
