What Is a Credit Score?

I have been around long enough to spend lots on Credit Cards and Acoounts. and being late, but never really heard of Credit Checks.
But I have one company I refused to pay and they threatened to take me to court.
They backed down, and said they were reporting me to a Credit Company.
I presume they did, but I have never heard about it,
But I did listefor anyone who asked about the details on a one page website, in case anyone emquired…..Crickets!!!!!
Maybe I have a score, but no-one has me told me.

Try ClearScore or similar it’ll show you the default they’ve put on your credit report (and the impact to your score). To check Equifax as well you can use Wisr.

Op should think of using google first before posting standard clickbait type posts.

If you bank with CBA just click the credit score icon in the app homepage.

    • +4

      That shows cents. Cheers.

      OP only clicks bait

    • I am surprised CBA have not monetarised the "icon" yet for people who click through…🤔

    Chat GPT:
The speaker is expressing frustration or disappointment. They put effort into making information available (via a simple website), expecting some interest or questions, but nobody responded at all.

    • Can you ask ChatGPT to translate this, too please? ( I'm banned for swearing in Auslan, on chatgpt)

but no-one has me told me.

  • Wisr have a good platform where you can see your scores from both major agencies (Experian and Equifax) and it shows how they’ve changed over time. Free service they just occasionally market loans to you

It's when your dealer provides goods without payment upfront

My dealer calls it 'tick' for short. Words with more than one syllable confuses him.

Op can post bragging about stuffing their credit rating, but cannot use google….

Is it just about accumulating debt, and not repaying it

    • +3

Yes, so you can use Google. We all believed in you.

    • Please explain…..

      • That's why we're here.

Maybe I have a score, but no-one has me told me.

What? Really? No-one came knocking on your door to explain to you, personally, what a credit score details?

It's part of Jehovah's Witnesses remit, but most people shoo them away before they get to that part.

    What Is a Credit Score?

A credit score is a number that represents your creditworthiness, essentially a measurement of how likely you are to repay debt.

On Ozb it's a vote driven process that gives OPs credit (or not) for their posts.

Thanks, I haven't learned a sinlge thing, understands That says a bit

  • The main thing to check is your credit file. You can get it for free from all main credit check agencies. Any company that plans to provide you with any type of credit (including post-paid billing for things like mobile plan, electricity) will be checking that file. If there are no bad entries in that file - you are all good. You can get your credit file for free once every three month.

    https://www.equifax.com.au/personal/
    https://www.experian.com.au/order-credit-report
    https://www.illion.com.au/#illion-for-individuals

Unless the company you refused to pay to was a financial institution which gave you a loan and you didn't make the repayments - I can't think of what their "reporting to credit company" will do.

  • Thanks. That's interesting because I have been arguin about my electricity company for au four months and I invited them to give me a straidgt answer, or the can take me to court and be forced to answer. There is this mystersious silence now

Andrek left out the bit about telcos and utility companies being able to list defaults against your name on your credit report. Do yourself a favour and get a (free) copy of your equifax report, check if you've been listed as defaulting.

      • I must be getting too old. none of it means a thing to me

      • I know they do ask for access to the credit report when you sign up with them, didn't know they can add entries there, never ran into that problem. Thanks for confirming they can!

  • You're not mistaking this with Arorae, a southern Island of Kiribati
