How come a bubble tea shop has beer?

    • +12

In fact, our Waterloo store does sell alcoholic beverages (because our store manager used to be a bartender). All our staff members also hold RSA certifications, and we also supply alcohol to other distributors.

      • Any plans to do the same with the Chatswood store?

        • +3

There are no plans at the moment, as department stores tend to have more regulations.

  • How do you order? @bibe

There is still a distinction between the brand name and the company name. Happy Lemon is a brand we represent, and I believe using the physical store name for promotional purposes helps build greater trust with customers

@tenpercent: Thank you for your suggestion. I will try to include this information.

            • +11

@tenpercent: Legitimately what is your problem?

        • +1

          WTF do you care?

    • +5

"We currently distribute alcoholic products to restaurants, so we do hold a liquor license. Our staff also have RSA certifications.

    • +18

Mate, you work for ATO or federal police… first liquor license then ABN, what's next ? Owner's date of birth, make sure they're 18+, home phone and where do they live ? ….

        • +2

I remember that Potato Market in Melbourne sells this beer.

          • @bibe: Not at this bargain prices though.

      Cash please

          Then jog on.

          • @Erkel: I believe every businesses should offer both options cash or card. I stopped using cash coz it's easier to track all my expenses rather than using cash dummy. 1

            • +1

@yayo321: Our store accepts both payment methods, but our warehouse usually doesn’t handle sales directly, so there is no card machine here.

  • Great deal, even at double the price tbh. I can’t get to Alexandria during business hours, but thanks OP!

How is the impromptu ozbargain meetup going?

Still over 1000+ slabs available, just picked 2. https://imgur.com/a/Kuz3y5a
The black beer was gone at 10am as expected.
No crowd, I expected better from Ozb at 10am Monday for a deal posted last night.

  • I haven't had this beer before and the reviews online say it's poor. Why is this so popular? What's so good about this beer?

    • +7

      It’s $10 for 24 of them?

      • Yes the price is great. But if it tastes bad is it still worth buying?

        • +1

Just got to pair it with the right meal, like a good taiwanese fried rice and chicken!

  • +1

I have a strong internal battle as I have had many of these tins at the airport in Taiwan but I remember thinking they weren't great.

    But geez, $10?

    • If you live nearby it's a no brainer. Unfortunately I'm on the northern beaches of Sydney.

      • +4

Northern beaches? Then why are you on ozbargain?

        • +3

I was born and bred here but won't be staying much longer. It's too expensive now and quality of life is suffering.

Regardless rich people use OzB too, how do you think most get rich?

          • +1

@WatchNerd: I barely recongnise Avalon now. It's just real estate agents, financial planners and clothing stores. Sad really.

          • +1

@WatchNerd: I know I'm just taking the mickey out of you.

        • +1

I'm gonna guess you really don't know much about the beaches…

      • +1

I feel ya. I'm strapped for time today (law exam this arvo) but I reckon I'll pop by tomorrow if there's some left. Not many bargains on the beaches these days (though Nomad used to do some excellent cheap clearance tins..)

      • Everytime there's an excuse of i drove 2-5 hours complaint to businesses it's usually residents from the northern beaches on how they travelled so far only to get there to find out that the order cannot be supplied because of the deal has been posted on ozbargain/media channels or if it's a low in stock item.

  • Got 2, thanks OP

    • +2

Tastes pretty funky fam but it was $10

      • +1

I remember Taiwan Beer tasting a lot like drinking New from a sock years ago but I can't resist a bargain. Yep, it's not a nice beer but goddamn that price is low.

Nothing to do with BBD as far as I know. It's just a kinda gross beer. I think it needs to be paired with food.

        • +1

Tell us more about when you drank New through a sock - sounds exciting.

        • +1

Yeah it’s been in my fridge for a day, after 1 it just tastes like beer, having some pringles with it, happy days, it’s cold, the price is right

  • +1

Well worth the drive thank you. Easy access from just north of the bridge.

Got a box in each size and the owner was kind enough to put in the car.

Taste is quite similar to Heineken but more drinkable in my opinion. Better than your Tun and VB lager options for sure.

Quite frankly this is the best alcohol deal I’ve ever had and I snap up deals on Craft Cartel and the clearance lines at Dan Murphy’s.

If you don’t want to do the drive you might be able to get an uber driver to deliver it to you, pick a low demand period and prepay for the goods.

    Update:

1.We still have about 4 pallets (approximately 350 slabs) of Taiwan Gold Medal Beer left. The stock is quite sufficient for now, but based on today's pickup rate, it may sell out in 2–3 days.

2.Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer delivery services. I tried editing the post, but for some reason that message still shows. I genuinely wish we could deliver to you, but due to NSW regulations and limited manpower, we can only offer pickup only at the moment.

3.We can only accept cash or PayID, as this is a warehouse and we do not have a card machine here.

4.Regarding the taste—this beer is quite different from others as it’s brewed with added rice. It has a flavor somewhat like sparkling Sake or Rice Wine, but it’s not too strong. The reviews are very polarized. If you’re worried you might regret buying it, I can let you sample a small sip before purchasing (please don’t drink too much, as we must comply with NSW alcohol laws).

5.I'm personally only at the warehouse on Mondays and Thursdays. On other days, my colleagues will be available to assist you with pickups. Also, please note that tomorrow, June 3rd, we will close early at 3 PM, as our team decided to finish the day a bit earlier.

6.Lastly, I’d like to clarify that we are fully licensed to sell alcohol and operate legally. We usually don’t sell directly to the public—our regular sales are to restaurants, distributors, or through our own store (Happy Lemon Waterloo).

Thank you everyone ! We truly appreciate it !

  • Hey there please let me know if you have stock that expires after 21/06? Willing to buy a lot thanks

    • We currently only have this batch (expiring on June 13).

  • I bought 2 cases this morning. Thanks OP

  • Thanks picked up 2 cases earlier very easy and amazing deal

  • +1

    Great beer and sooo cheap.

This has to be the best beer deal ever

Thanks to Bibe for helping me load my car. Such a nice gentleman. Wish I got more and too far to drive back

No 10 cent refund on cans but a simple print out of a barcode of coke will fix that problem ( jokes)

    • +1

Thank you for your purchase. We are actually coordinating with the supplier regarding the Australian recycling certification, but it's a bit complicated to obtain that certification for imported goods.

  • Still plenty left yesterday 3:45pm.
