Thanks OP. My checkout also had a $5 promotional credit applied. Not sure what that was but ended up $110.58 plus whatever, if any cashback Cashrewards gives me.
Few 'used like new' for $6 less too. I've rolled the dice on one as don't like buying Lego just for investment but odds are someone got the box and sent it back right away anyway.
TBH, you end up with a pretty poor rendition of the original artwork. You can't see the intricate claw-like details at the top of the wave, and you'd have to know the original artwork to realise there are fishermen in the boats.
Have a look at the original artwork and compare: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Wave_off_Kanagawa
It's Lego…
I know, but it's like expecting art and getting something more like a child's drawing. I'm sure Lego could have produced bricks with talons stenciled on them and bricks with fishermen on them.
Compare with the fine level of detail Lego put into their "classic cars" kits, like the stencils on their Porsche 911:
https://www.amazon.com.au/LEGO-Technic-Porsche-42096-Playset…This kit just fails to give the same impression as the original artwork.
If you read the reviews, people mention that it's great for their 8yo kid and they love having it on their wall!
As an 'adult', I would buy something like this if it was more detailed
I just built this from a christmas present. It actually looks great as a display piece. I would recommend putting it up high or somewhere you can look at it from a bit of distance.
All gone already??
