FWIW, I already have the watch (in dark grey), and tried all the Samsung bands, if anyone has questions about the watch/bands, feel free to ask.

Also noting, historically, these watches have been announced around early July, so the Watch 8 is expected soon and leaks have shown it's been submitted for Bluetooth/LTE certifications in some countries already.

    • how's the battery life with always on?

      • It's actually pretty good, I use always on, and raise to wake, and it can last about 2-3 days, I pop it on charge whenever I shower.
Not as good as a Garmin but I usually charge little bits here and there anyway.
I don't use GPS or LTE though.

    • Would you recommend it overall? For around the same price I am able to get SGW 6 Classic LTE + Huawei Fit 4 Pro (with all discounts and gift cards).

      • Sounds like you're contemplating upgrading to the 6 classic so yes I'd definitely recommend the watch Ultra! When you use them both you'll notice the Ultra is much more snappier, just a nicer experience to use, apparently the chip is 3x faster in terms of performance.
Battery life is great, suits my lifestyle, the design I was a bit hesitant about but once you see it in person and wear it, it grows on you, I actually pretty it over the watch 6 classic now.
Also the current trade in value for the Ultra is $350 with Samsung, buying at this price is great value if you're planning to trade it in when the Watch 8 releases.

        • I have already got the Ultra paying only $222 out of pocket from JB HiFi (10% off on the Wicked Wednesday + Samsung corporate discount + 5% first purchase + $500 gift cards). I haven't unpacked it yet. I was after a more universal watch - both sporty and classic. I feel like Ultra is bulkier and doesn't quite fit into a classic look :)

  • not sure what the final destination for samsung watch design. going round or square

      Samsung: porque no los dos

Meh. “Ultra”, someone forgot to use Thesaurus for synonyms

The watch is much cheaper in multiple places ex: https://www.bigw.com.au/product/samsung-galaxy-watch-ultra-4…

      Grey import.

I don't like this boxy/circular look they went for. I really liked how the (now ancient) S3 Gear looked and the satisfying rotating bezel. Still got it in my drawer, retired.

    • Same
I have the S3 and now the Watch 4 classic

      • I still have the S2 Classic, brilliant watch, still works but don't use it anymore.

  • Great watch, unfortunatley I decided to return mine for a refund due to a constant coil whine. I got mine on launch, sent it back a month ago and holding out for the new model in July.

  • have a watch 5 pro, randomly says over heat (even in cold melb night when bluetooth connected). hope they can add a vapor chambers to cool, since this is much thicker and larger compared to watch 5 pro which has same battery size

Pity no rotating bezel in ultra, should be back in watch 8, and maybe blood glucose monitor built id… rumours

This will be super hard to implement, but would be awesome if they can, dad would love it.

  • I don't think you will get a price beat/match as you need a membership or account to access this price. Jbhifi have already rejected it for me on this basis.

    • Walked into a Telstra shop today and bought one. Asked the guy if I needed a Telstra account. Triple checked, confirmed it's not required and sold it to me.

I'm heading overseas tomorrow otherwise I'd do a price beat with OW/JB. Maybe give it another shot.

  • Sportin the Watch 6 Classic. Superb piece of tech. This one is oh so tempting. Must resist!

I love my 5 pro still. Battery life around 3+ days with screen always on. I looked at upgrading to the ultra when they did a $650 deal a couple of weeks ago. I looked at trading in my 5 pro and its trade in value was only $35.
I hope there is an 8 ultra Bluetooth model as I don't want cellular connection with one of the overpriced telcos.

Agree rockin Galaxy 5 Pro and it's been great. Best of the Samsung lot in terms of battery life. If battery life is your main concern I would suggest the Huawei watch GT5 Pro for a lot cheaper than this watch.

  • I got this for $550ish last month with OW pricematching amazon, even though it was a 3rd party seller (and grey import) the model number listed on Amazon at the time matched OW.

Great watch all-round!! just be careful with QC as a fair few of them shipped with dials that are slightly off center (anywhere from 0.5deg to a few degrees off).

Also mine recently seems to autolock itself while on wrist which is annoying, Google wallet seemed to be the culprit - and frequency has reduced significantly since uninstalling.

  • got my new huawei fit 4 pro from JB hifi for $305 after perk Gift card and bonus gift card discount. Im happy
