How it works

  1. Share your referral link: Invite your friends to Kraken by sending them your unique referral link from the Kraken Pro app.

  2. Friend signs up: Your friend must use your referral link to create a new Kraken account via the Kraken Pro app.

  3. Make a deposit: They need to deposit cash into their Kraken account.

  4. Start trading: Once they trade crypto, you both receive the referral bonus!

Kraken is currently running a referral promotion for new users. If you sign up using a referral link and trade at least $200 AUD worth of crypto, both you and the referrer will receive $50 AUD in Bitcoin.

I recommend using Up with PayID for the $50 deposit (and ANZ may/may not work), since ING and CBA may hold the transfer for 24 hours.

After buying the A$200 BTC, I instantly received a reward notification for the A$50 BTC.

Tip 1: To pay lower fees on buying/selling, get the Kraken+ trial and then cancel it after.
Update - Tip 2: Some users have mentioned that you need to ensure that you enter the referral code on signup, if it doesn't automatically populate. The referral code appears on the referral link. If it automatically populates, as it did for me, you don't need to bother with the code.

        The deals themselves are good. But their customer service is just non existent.

        They froze my deposits/withdrawals a week after signing up. I was ID verified with 2FA. Email said they'd get someone in contact within 48 hours yet I was still chasing them 1-2 weeks later. Their phone support couldn't help me and email replies were just auto generated crap. Luckily was only $220, and I had written it off as a loss before finally regaining access.

    Do you need to retain the $200 in the account until the $50 is received or can you deposit $200, make the necessary trade & then once you receive confirmation you will get the bonus you can then withdraw your initial deposit?

    I will purge the referrals now, as there are reports that the existing links from the previous promotion can't be used for the current Kraken Pro referral campaign. Existing users will need to look in their Kraken Pro app for the correct link (do not re-enter your old one)

      As I mentioned above that a friend has used my old link and they didn’t get anything. Now still in the queue to talk to Kraken customer service and the estimated waiting time was 552 minutes. There is a huge risk to use an expired promo link which may void the rewards in the end.

    Old referral link from few days ago still shows $100 sign up bonus but new one shows $50. Though not sure if will get $100 or not, maybe worth a try.

    Edit: Just got an email for the $100 bonus, possibly from someone who signed up few days ago but only just completed the $200 trade.

    How do I transfer between different kraken accounts? I want to transfer from my kraken to my husband's account so we can consolidate.

    I've looked online and they say to use Kraken Pay with your kraktag or kraken email but they don't seem to be available in Australia. I've tried generating a lightning request as well, the payment was withdrawn but pending and then failed after 10 minutes.
