    A girl from Bondi Beach store was calling people in for the free chicken at 11:55. I was the first one in and got the chicken at 12:05. There were no more than 10 people in the queue. The chicken was very juicy and good quality. The only thing was people were asked to make a purchase to qualify for the freebie. Most people just spent $5 for the Bondi burger and got a free chicken : )

      Purchase is not necessary for this deal. I have seen many stores impose a purchase requirement but that's not what the T&Cs state.

        I agreed but couldn’t be bothered to argue with them.

        Store I visited stated while chicken is last, I had hope to give away more than 50
        then store manager call out to people 50 chickens sold and they offer 50% off for the chickens.
        People there were so cool and some bought chicken for $10 some ordered $5 burger.

      You go on their website and submit it via the contact us page. If your chicken was free, they won't really do anything about your complaint though. Mine was the same, I assume that's their recipe and it's how they serve all the whole chickens at Oporto.

      Next time ask them for a basting.
      Blasting a chook is just cooking it at high temperatures for short periods.

    Ended up going through the drive through, nice cashier gave me a double bondi burger with regular chips and a drink for $10.

      That's nice. It was my first time to try Opporto,
      it was a great opportunity to try.

      I was perhaps 52th if not 51st,
      50 Chickens sold and they offered 1/2 price for chicken - $10.

      I had bondi burger with free chips (app) for $5,
      staffs were nice, I asked if my order will be ready soon after waiting 6-8 mins,
      then staff was saying there are 5 orders in front of me then my food came out in 2 minutes after.

      I was feeling lucky after all. Total time 35 minutes (25 minutes queue and 10 minutes to get the food)

    Arrived at the Heathwood store just before midday and there were about 30 people in front of me. After midday the line started to move fairly quickly, was able to place my order in about 30 mins and got my chicken and burger in less than 10 mins. Not bad at all!

    At the Crows Nest store, I waited for a total of 65 minutes just to place my order. Now, after finally ordering, I have been informed that I need to wait an additional 60 minutes before I can pick up the chicken. This means the entire process is taking a considerable amount of time, much longer than expected.

    Had to wait 2 hrs to get 2 chickens that I paid $20 for. Not very organised of them. Would have left if they said it would take that long. Cashier said 15 min wait. What a liar

    Queued at 12pm, 50 people in line at Auburn NSW. I was about 30th in line and got served at 12:45pm. Was told there would be a 2 hour wait so I came back just before 3pm and was told it would be another 2-3 hours. The next batch of 10 chooks was ready but no customers were waiting in the store besides myself and the staff refused to allocate me one just in case they all turned up and couldn’t get served their order receipt. Absolute waste of time and horrendous planning.

    Picked mine up 2 hours after ordering.

    Amazing deal. I understand for some people it wouldn't be worth it but a free chook is still a free chook.

        A nice thought, but a naive one lol.

        If they say to #45 they're out, how are you going to say "I only counted 44 people in front of me" because they can easily say 5 came in earlier.

        I can completely understand them doing it too, their setup isn't designed for this kind of influx and some people will be pissed off either way. This isn't McDonald's; whole chickens take time to cook, especially 50 of them,

    Finished work 3pm after totally forgetting to go there at lunch, also starving and figured a burger was good if I missed out.
    6 chickens left for free in baringa after mine!
    Called a workmate and had to convince him to drive 4mins to get a whole free chook…
    Some people really don’t understand marketing and freebies!
    Same dude I sent free alcohol deals to also didn’t believe there wasn’t a catch and didn’t get them in the past.

    He’s now on Ozbargain, a hopefully reformed man!

      Went to the local on the way home at 5:30 and they said they ran out of free ones but were doing $10 deals. I had a $5 voucher so walked out with a $5 whole chicken. Can’t complain 🙂
