Original Coupon Deal

compact subwoofer available for a good price of $219.85 via Big W marketplace

I was able to get a price beat via webchat at a local SuperCheapAuto for $218.85, and have access to 7% SCA gift cards (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/discounted_egift_cards) so it brought it down to $203.53 with local pickup.

SCA initially didn't want to price match because it is a 'Marketplace' but their Price Beat page makes no mention of this, so eventually changed their mind.

    50W RMS?!

    That's a speaker, not a subwoofer lol

Still more powerful than a lot of factory subwoofers (but i do agree with you)

      • +1

So very powerful then, because most cars don't come with a factory subwoofer!

Seriously though, I've owned the predesessor to this model and it's a cheap way to add bass to any car.

RMS is snake oil, means nothing. It's more powerful and pumps more doof than you think. All the adjustments are on the remote, extremely handy.
Recommend if you are running tight in space, it's a great underseat subwoofer. If you are looking for more doof then you need to look at a proper 8 inch or a 10 inch spare wheel one.

  • Are things like these hard to self install?

    • +5

Simple as long as you've figured out how where to get power from and which wires the audio signals come from.

      Aka not simple

    • Quite simple but can be time consuming to figure out the pre requisites

    • I don't recommend attempting it, fairly time consuming especially if you don't know what you're doing.

Depending on the car, it can be very difficult

    • These are great under the seat, not bone shattering base but more than enough for any normal spirited listening.

If you are installing any in car amp/sub for the first time it will be a bit annoying as you need to pull the power and signal cables through. I already had an amp under the front passenger seat, so it was a 15 min job to pull power and signal across and install this under the driver seat.

Can I install this on my sim rig?

$228 is normal price at jbhifi so it's not that big of a saving

    • If you click through that's a marketplace seller 'frankies auto electrics' who also have it on their own website for 228 down from 320.

I think it's just on sale a quite a few places atm

That's being sold by a third party via JB Hi-Fi Marketplace, so not sure how you would know what price is normally is.

  • Amy thoughts on how these will survive in a boat? It will be in the cabin out of direct water but will be in a salty environment

    • +1

I don't think it will survive long, they have marine audio for a reason. It might be fine for lake use. Salt water I doubt it

  • I have the previous gen of this in my Landcruiser and it is brilliant! I listen to my music at normal/safe levels and this gives a really nice kick to the bass. Was super easy to install under the driver seat.
