RGB Fan Control Making Me Go Nuts - Techfast Build 9070 XT

Hi, I’d like to get some help from people who may have got the built from Techfast : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/904562

Gigabyte B650M Gaming Plus WiFi
Antec CX500M case

My problem are the RGB fans, I can’t seem to turn them off.

I tried the button next to the power, if I press it it changes color pattern, if I hold then the color pattern locks and would stay, sometimes if I hold less than 5sec then it turns off (luck of the draw).

I updated the bios and went to miscellaneous to turn the rgb control off, did nothing.

I tried on RGB fusion, the ram respond but the fan don’t seem to be linked.

Then I went to the more hands on approach, I opened the PC with schematic on hand to unplug the led control. D_led1 and D_led2 unplugged but the rgb are still on! Then I went a bit nuts and started unplugging stuff and I managed to stop some fans … but I only wanted the rgb to stop.

Is it impossible? Should I buy new fans and toss the old ones away (hopefully nothing breaks)?

I would be really greatful for some light on this!

Yeah bro, you missing out controlling the extra FPS. Someone here should be able to help you.

    • Thanks for the help

  • Have you tracked the fans back to the power? They could be into an “always on” of the PSU.

It sounds like you’ve just unplugged the control wiring. My RGB fans have a control wire and a power source into a PSU cable. Usually it’s a hard drive power source cable so it powers on when your turn the computer on…….

    • Thanks, I’ll have a look. The reason I bought a prebuilt is that I don’t know how to find my way around all the cables, I guess I’ll have to give it a go. I find weird that the ram get controlled by rgb fusion but the fan aren’t. If I go to the open the computer route, I might as well just buy new non rgb fan and put them in.

Yes, if the fans have a control wire and a power wire, the RGB can be turned off independently, probably by software. From the sounds of it, this isn't the case as you said RGB Fusion couldn't turn them off.

If there is one wire, the fans are cheap and the RGB can't be turned off independently. Buy some new non-led fans or use a knife to cut the RGB wire near the leds.

if you're looking to control fan speed you can do that in the bios. techfast should be able to give you some advice

      • I think they may have done a shortcut in their cabling and plugged the power on the case controller or something like that. When I opened my case I could only see the cpu fan connected to the MB, I suppose since the light can be controlled via a physical button on the case but not via bios or any app that there must be a power source somewhere I haven’t checked. I might shoot them an email since it’s beyond my knowledge

        • try openrgb, rgb fusion is notorious for being ultra shitty not sure if it's changed since my x570 but it's was poo poo.

I purchased the techfast bundle with RTX 5080 and Antec C3 case. Was having issues with the overheating issues when using the Gigabyte Control Centre and needed the fans to be running at full speed. Ended up downloading Fan Control https://getfancontrol.com/ and now it;s running quieter and cooler. There is also a good youtube video by
JayzTwoCents on how to use it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDPKVKBMQU8

The fan is likely connected to a dumb rgb controller that's only connected to the power, not motherboard, meaning it might not be able to do software control.

you'll need share more detail before internet strangers be able to help.

    • I suspect that you are right, the control of the fan are only throught the button on the case, I tried the bios and few apps. I also had a look on the motherboard and a glance at the schematic, it seems the ports allocated to the fan control aren't populated.

I saw a rgb controller that was in the case but when i unplugged the ports that had RGB on it, it did nothing.

I have no idea how the cabling works but I guess I'll have to untaggle the mess before I manage to control the annoying flashing of the rgb. Since they don't seem to link to the MB, I suppose i'll need to have a look at the power supply or the case itself to see where the fan drw their power from.

      Thanks for help
