I'm pretty sure this promotion hasn't been posted yet, but feel free to report it if it's already been done.

Anyway, I saw the promotional banner a couple of days ago when signing up for the free two-year DashPass with Amazon Prime. It's gone now, but as you can see in the promo code section, it appeared when choosing Afterpay as your main payment.

The minimum purchase is $35, up to $15 off for two orders.

No code is provided; it automatically applies when you choose Afterpay payment.

Couldn’t see a discount with afterpay

    • Have you tried putting an order of $35 or more in your cart?

Not against the deal in any way, a deal is a deal…

But seriously, using Afterpay for insane marked up food delivery? If affordability is the issue for some then don't order food delivery!! I really hope no one in those conditions are ordering Doordash because there is a Buy Now Pay Later option..

What's the difference between using a BNPL and a credit card? I use a CC instead of debit because I get points on purchases and its cheaper to buy via doordash + discounts compared to buying in-store.

      • +3

I dont disagree with you - I also use CC to delay every payment by a month and get points. And I love discounts. I think there No implications for those who can manage.

For the minority who has legit affordability issue, I think BNPL is more accessible than credit card and makes things more appealing than CC in a way that the "damage" can be splitted across a longer period, giving a false impression that the purchase is more "affordable"

You could also argue that BNPL is similar to getting a car loan or home mortgage. But my point was I am hoping those who has true affordability issues don't get hooked up to pay Doordash using Afterpay if they truly cannot afford it

      • What's the difference between using a BNPL and a credit card?

credit check? to ensure its not a financial trap to those who dont have the income to service it?

        • You mean like all those who got into financial debt with credit cards?

          • @ilikeblue: providing credit checks isnt immunity to financial troubles, its a layer of safety. A bit like seat belts help save lives, but does not gaurantee your safety. So yes, people with credit cards do get peoploe in trouble, but credit checks certainly helps reduce it

For me, it's cheaper than purchasing directly from the shop after discount

    • +3

Why not if its cheaper than in store

Don't default on your subway footlong sir

      • +4

I mean, they're welcome to repo it tomorrow if needed.

        • The depreciation would suck when trying to deduct it from the principle and fees. I know, it's just a stutter- I mean subway step.

    • You can just enjoy the discount and choose to pay the entire amount through afterpay straight away if you want, it's easy as.

    • The markup isn't so bad after the discount, and the money can sit earning interest for a while extra.
Then pay off the afterpay instalments with a credit card anyway and still get the points and even more time for the money to earn interest until I need to pay.

      • Yeah I am with you, I do the same :) this deal is a great discount

My point was I hope no other people are overextending and buying doordash just because there is BNPL option that makes the purchase "look" affordable, especially when the discount ends

Doesnt work for me , is it targeted? Is it for first time users? Can you share the code if it seems generic
    Ta

    • No code is provided in the banner; it says, "Automatically applied when choosing Afterpay as payment."

  • I don't even see afterpay as a payment option at checkout

  • +3

So you get nothing off up to $35. Then from $35.01 to $37.50 you get between $14 and $15. Then from $37.51 up you get a flat $15.

Why didn't they just say "$15 off for all orders over $35". Simpler. Clearer. Easier to calculate for everyone.

Worked for me. Didn't see it at first but selected Afterpay method per OP and it appeared.

I had doordash credits (gift card) enough for the full order, selected afterpay and paid using 100% using the credits, so didn't even need Afterpay.

    Doesn't work, targetted deal

  • +2

    Doesn't work

  • Worked for me! Thanks!

  • When you are on Afterpay page and press continue, does it bring you back to doordash page to complete the order or order is alced immidiately. I don't want to take risk of pressing the button to see an order placed with the th out 40% off.

    • Im not sure actually, bcs Im using doordash credit to make the final amount is $0, so I don't use the afterpay to pay for it.

    • back to doordash page

    • Yes, it does. When you get brought back to the DoorDash site, this is where I was able to see that I was eligible for the offer!

  • I can’t see this promo but PRIME40MT works for me

  • I got this offer too! Had $39.46 total for Glenny Kebabs, and it automatically showed up the Afterpay 40% off, up to $15 after I selected Afterpay as the payment option. Thanks OP!
