Once you go black, you never go back.

Really good ramen especially if you add some veggies or an egg.

    • definitely black sits firmly on the top of the shin ramyun list

    • Good to know, never tried black, always the red only , will give it a go

Andy Cooks has a good recipe.

He adds leftover chicken, peanut butter, bulk chili oil and some mixed egg into it when cooking it.

  • Is pickup available on weekends

  • Apparently paying to cook instant noodles outside is a thing now.

  • Is it bad that I think some of the Han Kitchen varieties are better? [Van full of angry Koreans pulls up outside house]

The Gomtang is one of my favourites. Though for the spicier noodles, still think I prefer Shin.

      • Nice dried mushrooms and greens in the flavour packets. I have been eating the Budae. Still fairly spicy.

I understand everyone has their own flavour preference but Budae just tastes like hotdog water to me YMMV

There's also an equivalent chicken version now, with gold packaging which is also quite nice.

I am waiting for Coles/Woolies to stock the air dried version though.

  • Do people cook these following directions on the pack or are there other 'hacks' on how to best prepare them?.
I'm ready to upgrade from mi goreng but scared I'll mess these up.

    • How does one mess up instant noodles

      • Water levels mostly - I've seen both too much and too little

Andy Cooks gives a good easy recipe.

    • There are hacks that come with experience. Or watch some of the korean street vendor cooking tutorials.

The one where they chopstick the noodle in the air genuinely improves the springyness in the noodle.

I dunno what the science is but the other hack I like is to fire off the final minute or two and just let it steam in hot water with lid on.

This prevents it from overcooking and becoming too soggy

For those in Eastwood, $2.30 at S-Mart.

    • $1.90 today. 24 july expiry date

      • $7.80 for a box, i think the box contains 8x5 packs?

      • I believed it’s $1.8, same price as the 4 pack cheese stir fry.

Saw it there a week ago but short expire date.
