Looking for Queen Size Bed Frame under $2,000

I’m in the market for a high-quality queen size bed frame, and after a fair bit of searching online, I’ve got my eye on the Yakka Floating Bed Frame ($1700 after shipping) from TheAcaciaTree. It looks great in terms of value and design.

That said I see other options before making the purchase. My budget is up to $2,000 AUD, and I’m looking for something that’s:

•Solid wood (preferably hardwood, not veneers or MDF)
•Durable and quiet (no creaking or wobbling over time)
•Minimalist or modern design
•Preferably Australian made, but open to overseas brands if the quality’s there
•Bonus points for easy assembly and based in Sydney

Also happy to hear about other solid options in this range, especially from smaller/local makers I might not have come across.

Appreciate any feedback or recommendations!

Durable and quiet (no creaking or wobbling over time)

    ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • I would suggest looking at somewhere like Amart. We bought cheap beds from Fantastic Furniture in the past and they have been bad. But our current one from Amart has been great. It hasn't creaked or wobbled from the last 5 years.

We never buy anything from Amart at RRP, we always go when there is a sale on.

Amart? Trash. My advice is go anywhere but there.

      • Username checkouts.

Most of the stuff in my house is Amart and can confirm, not trash. We have found it to be very good and sturdy.

Fantastic Furniture, I would say that is trash.

You get what you pay for.

          Amart is budget trash

Amart has all the appearances of a cheap furniture store apart from the actual prices.

    • Amart does solid timber furniture? Never looked as never been in the market before but will need several pieces later this year and always assumed they were budget chip board stuff.

      • Yes, our bed is made of solid timber and it isn't chipboard. Very sturdy and better than something from Fantastic Furniture which we have bought from before.

Have a look at the sleeping duck indestruct bed frame in oak. Pretty happy with it.

Assembly takes a little bit as the parts are heavy/sturdy. Wouldn't recommend if you need to disassemble often.

    • Was going to say the same.
Doesn't tick all the op wish list but that thing is solid as you could want, and a few different styles to make it as minimalist or more designer as you want (and want to spend)

  • you should also be looking at the gap between the slats (if it has them). A lot of mattresses recommended up to (i think it was) 10cm

I bought Low style platform bed frame from my local furniture maker. They're called: woodworkingmelbourne.com.au. I bought the Merbau one and they're solid and very comfortable. See if you can find someone similar in your local area that sells something similar. The king size frame cost $1300 about 4 years ago. I think they might ship interstate.

  • i remember that mattress guy that posts on Whirlpool was going to start selling bed frames

I know people hate Gerry but there's no denying Harvey Norman does have a good range.

Don't get into bed with Gerry

    Ikea ?

      • Also they only have the rounded slats, which a number of non-IKEA mattresses are not suited for.

      • Queen size looks the same as other stores.

        • Well it's not

          • @Davo1111: Ikea : Queen (202cm x 152cm)

            Std : Queen (153cm x 203cm)

It seems to be 90 degrees off…
Just turn your bed to face the adjacent wall… Problem solved

  • Japanese slated bed frame, cheap, solid and healthy, and perfect for henky-penky!

    • I've seen the videos.

  • milk crates and zip ties.

    you're welcome
