Had a quick look, looks like Amazon is price matching Harvey Norman's clearance price.

For people who don't read the comments: you could get the matching 2 slice toaster for $19 as well, credit to Malik Nasser.

  • inside stainless steel too?

    • +3

Should be, but not sure how good is the stainless steel

      • +4

Don't expect 316 / Marine Grade for this price.

    • +10

Doesn't look like it for the lid, water gauge, sieve and I'm guessing the sieve mount.

      • I wonder why were you downvoted?! for stating facts?

        • +4

You must be new here? Nope. This is standard. The votes are about popularity not truth. As bad as Reddit.

        • ageism

      • Yes, the sieve mount looks plastic..

    • -3

Yes. I purchased twice. It's solid.

    • Yes, inside seems to be stainless steel, see this review video

      • +8

I'd guess the product changed. Here's a newer review that matches the current product image.

The inside of the lid is black plastic
The scale filter keeps falling into the kettle.
Even after a month of still gives of plastic smell when water boils

  • +11

The also have a toaster for $19

    • +2

I have this toaster. It really is only worth $19, if that.

      • I'll get it anyway. Plastic toasters always seemed a bit icky to me so $19 for a metal one can't be bad.

    • Thank you, bought as well 😊

    • Thanks. Needed this.

  • thanks OP, ordered ! Ask question later

  • +4

Have had one for a year, decent quality, looks good after a year, boils fairly quickly and does the job.

    • Is it stainless steel inside as well? As mentioned above, looks like that it is. Thanks.

EDIT: just saw the video on Amazon - There is no plastic on the inside, looks like on the lid is made of plastic.

      • +2

The water level indicator and inside of lid is of plastic. So If you are concerned about boiling water being in contact with plastic then this kettle is not for you.
The Kogan kettle down below seems a better option.

        • I think the water level indicator is all transparent plastic. Is there any exceptions?

          • +1

@Suricate: There are glass kettles, and there are stainless kettles without indicators if the goal is to avoid plastic.

  • Thank you! Needing a new kettle.

  • +3

Thanks OP. Been looking for a stainless steel kettle on the cheap. Been using the Kmart $7 Plastic kettle since 2016 and still going strong but been feeling like upgrading.

  • Why aren't there any double wall kettles?

      • +4

Bought this a couple of weeks ago when it was $29. All stainless steel inside including the lid, no plastic touching the water at all.

        • no plastic touching the water at all

The spout looks plastic that touches boiled water?

I'm asking because Kogan product description says steel + plastic. The picture also shows the pouring through outer plastic spout

          https://assets.kogan.com/files/product/2024/KA15KETSTBA/KA15…

          From kogan portal:

          features
          Colour White
          Material Stainless steel + Plastic

          • +1

@Ozsaver88: No. The spout is also stainless steel, covered in white plastic as the entire outer body shell. But you are right, the very tip might come into slight contact with a small amount of white plastic. That said, you can pour a bit more quickly if needed :)

  • Bought one, thanks.

Are there any stainless steel kettles that will boil just one cup (250ml) of water?

All the inexpensive kettles I can find say 750ml minimum, so when I want only a single cup, it takes longer to boil and uses more electricity.

    • Matter of fact - there is - and I love mine - used it for a week trip all over north island NZ recently - and has variable temperature too - I paid ~AUD40 back in March. Got it so I didn't have to use the hotel room kettle since I'm weird that way

      Xiaomi Portable Kettle

      • Boiling takes a claimed 8 minutes which is likely best scenario and not always the case.. It would take much longer than it would take to boil a kettle so the only benefit here is possible electricity but I doubt it. There's no new technology here. It's claimed 300w x 8mins is a total of 2400w versus about 2000w of the kettle which would probably take about a minute to boil with minimal water. Power is about the same here. Save your money and buy a standard all stainless kettle like the kogan one mentioned above.

        • Pretty sure mine takes less that 8 mins … but we would only have 500 mil at most in it … I don’t get the 750ml requirement that seems silly when there is no element.

    • +1

Get a Breville Hotcup (or similar). They are 3kw so strictly speaking illegal (and you'll need to change the UK plug), but I've never had it blow a fuse as it only takes about a minute or less to boil a cup of water. There are 2400 watt versions in other brands.

It only boils one cupful (you can adjust it to your cup size).

      https://www.amazon.com.au/Breville-Dispenser-Variable-Dispen…

    • I use a pot. With an induction stove it boils super quick.

    • kmart stainless steel anko kettle has 500ml minimum and you can pull the plastic out of the spout so you only have a plastic lid remaining which wont touch your water, but may have condensed water from steam hitting it, drip back down…

    • Thanks @orbital @wfdTamar @eciuj @Tythefly86. None of those was quite what I wanted, but you gave me ideas, and helped me decide what features I wanted, which are:

      • lid doesn't detach from the kettle
      • not designed for a car's cup holder - as their narrow base makes them too easy to knock over on a kitchen bench
      • fast boiling, so at least 1kW heating element
      • runs from 230V mains
      • heats as little as one cup of water (I stretched this to allow 300ml minimum)
      • water level indicator (for easy filling to the correct level)
      • stainless steel element
      • not a fully-glass body
      • preferably stainless steel body

Here's what I found, going through every kettle at Amazon that said "stainless":
200 ml minimum, half glass and half stainless, 1100W, maybe NOT AU mains plug?
300ml minimum, full stainless body with plastic handle, 1000-1200W.
300ml minimum, plastic body with stainless element, 1500-1800W, stay-cool exterior.

For all of these, the kettle part is "cordless", the power cord attaches to a separate base.

Time for double wall kettles as main stream, all stainless steel and zero plastic.

  • I feel like my 6 year old Aldi glass kettle will die at any moment so bought!

    • Isn't glass kettle safer?

      • A lot more dangerous if you drop it, when it smashes you're almost certain to get splashed with boiling water. And then you've got broken glass too.

I would say stainless steel is safest, but there are some plastic kettles with a stay-cool exterior. If there was a stainless kettle with a stay-cool exterior, that would be the best!

(For anyone who objects to stainless steel, I remind you that your water almost certainly arrives at you house after going through kilometres of steel piping. And that's not even stainless steel!).

  • purchased 1 thanks

  • Its not showing $19. Do I need to use any code to see this price?

    • probably sold out. try harvey norman

  • Any get theirs?

Takes like 5+ minutes to boil.

    I'm returning.

    • How much water were you boiling? 5 minutes sounds like a full kettle.

      • Like 3/4 full

  • Back in stock and ordered. 10 year old Kmart kettle making strange noises when boiling so perfect timing.

  • already have one of these, but bought a second, because that's cheap! Will use this one in the coffee nook.

  • Back in stock and ordered! TY OP:)

  • +1

Damn it, i bought it 2 days ago for $38 and thought that was a deal. I hope its back in stock again so i can repurchase and return the first one.

    • there is no free return now

  • Just got delivered. Works well but gets really hot on the outside. Have to be careful not to touch the exterior when hot.

    • Does it smelly 'plasticky'? Somebody said that their one did even after a month.

      • +1

        Not really no.
        No plastic smell.

    • +2

I thought this was common sense with any metal vessel containing hot liquids 🤔

      • My Aldi hot water thermos is metal inside out and doesn't feel hot to the touch while having almost boiling hot water inside it. Was hoping for something similar.

        • +1

Well that's a Thermos. Insulated and meant to maintain water hot, so makes sense it wouldn't feel hot

          • @constipated: Guess I was expecting too much from a $19 kettle. There are appliances and even utensils that use some form of insulation just to prevent outside surfaces from getting scalding hot. Double walled glasses are one example.

Wow prettY quick! Received mine today 2x! Cool!

  • +1

Received mine today, much louder than my old Kmart glass kettle.

  • Got one, thanks.
