Switch 2 Harvey Norman Pre-Order Support Group and Rants

I've been reading a few of the pre-order bargain comments, and it appears there's a fair amount of Harvey Norman supply issues for the Switch 2, affecting pre-orders and gift card deals. For myself, a rude finding that there was zero stock at Broadway to fulfil pre-orders, including my own. No communication! Just a nasty surprise. I was lucky to have Moore Park assist me, but many others missed out.

    Did you receive an email saying it is ready for pickup before heading to the store?

    • Called ahead after not getting any emails, was informed stock might be arriving on Monday. Maybe.

    I'm in the same boat. How did you initiate the transfer from the store and how long did it take you to get your hands on one?

      After the first phone call to Broadway and their brickwall / checking ozbargain to see others with similar issues, I started making Plan Bs while still wanting to keep my HN + giftcard ecosystem — straight-up cancelling and going elsewhere would cost me the 10% bonus:

      1. Called Moore Park (which had stock according to the HN website). I was chatting to general HN Online Chat and they suggested I contact this store directly because they could see they had stock — online chat also has the ability to do transfers, but they said they had no way of knowing the time it would take the store to play ball. I was quite adamant about it all being today!
      2. On the phone, Moore Park checked their allocation, said they had 2 left of the MK Bundle. They suggested I call Broadway and explicitly state that Moore Park were willing to honour it should they transfer right now — basically, I was making the Broadway manager's job very easy by doing the running around for him. All they had to do was click a button.
      3. So, called Broadway — and spoke to department manager, listened to the same old shipment explanation — told him to do the Moore Park transfer, that i'd been on the phone with them and they were all ready to go with it, and he said that would work fine. Immediately hung up on me. Thx m8.
      4. Waited for an email to confirm this — a bit later, a 1st email was the auto "Sorry, Your order no. xxxx has been delayed" which appeared to indicate the transfer had been processed (no store information), and 2nd email was "is ready for pickup" with the new store information in it.
      5. Arrived at Moore Park and it was ready for me, giftcard arrived to email within 30 mins after collection.

      TOTAL TIME: 9.30AM learning problem, then hours of fumbling/waiting/missed calls, 1PM transfer , 4.30PM collection

        Yup, transferring online orders takes probably 3 clicks all up, very easy

  • Not sure how all suppliers work, but hn gott their stock from all interactive (who are crooks) in the past. They came via Startrack, normally 1 to 5 days before release, and stock would be embargoed. Stock was allocated by head office based on pre-orders.

    • yup, i know some Harvey Normans that got stiffed by startrack, having theirs booked a week from NOW

    I picked up mine yesterday (day 1) morning. That's fine. I also placed an order for a switch version of Legend of Zelda in the same preorder. With 6 weeks ahead, they couldn't organise the stock for me to pick up at the same time. Very disappointed! Talked to a manager and was promised to have a copy next day. Fingers crossed!

    Still not received gift card after 24hrs!

    Got an alert that it was ready, so went to pick it up from Melbourne HN yesterday at lunch. No stock issues. No big lines. Few staff so a bit of a way even so. Voucher arrived within the hour, so used it on Bananza preorder.
