Macpac Standard Serac 1000 Down Sleeping Bag (-17°C) $659.99 Delivered / C&C/ In-Store @ Macpac

40

Don't have experience with this bag, but specs seem great for the price. Perfect for camping on a mountain this weekend.

  • Minus 10 comfort; -17 limit
  • Stuffed with one kilo of 800 fps down treated for water repellence
  • Pertex Quantum outer fabric is great
  • Includes a neck baffle, which I find adds a lot of warmth
  • Under 1.5kg is respectable

  • Reviews seem kinda garbage? anyone got it?

    • There are only 7 reviews, not really enough to be meaningful good or bad.

most of those that tried it in -17 and didn't live to tell the tale are unlikley to leave reviews!

    Sleeping Bag $659.99 Delivered

joke posts belong in the forums…

What’s even funnier is the RRP.

  • Costs more than my doona

Wow, 800FPS, this beats an RTX5090 ;-) (which would probably also keep you as warm!)

This is cheap assuming i can use it 50 times.
The more natural happy way (to get warmth) will cost me $1000 just for 3 hours….

    • If you're not fussed on size and orientation I'm sure there're plenty of cheaper or free options.
Heck, you may even get paid.

      • Yeah sorry standard is high once you tasted it you cant go back

    Thank you OP ! : )

Key spec of this bag is:
800-loft and with 1000g fill weight
Notice this bag has a tapered feet design though, so it maybe a bit restrictive

$600+ seems to be the new norm for -10C rated sleeping bags,
imma hold on to my Sea to Summit Journey II for a little longer

Yeah I noticed the price of high end down has gone through the roof lately (even compared to everything else going through the roof). I have a Mountain hardware Phantom 0. They recently brought out a new version, so maybe the older one might go on clearance. It's amazing, but I wish I got the variant with a waterproof shell for Australian conditions. I've been waiting for Cumulus to throw a decent sale.

I got incredibly lucky a few years ago to get the high end S2S Alpine on clearance for $3-400.

They are triple that price currently. Somehow hiking and camping is a rich sport now

  • You could probably sleep in your jocks in the backyard with this, perfect when you get kicked out of the house.

Any chance the price drops below $100?

  • Happy carrot

Jesus thats expensive. How does it compare to using 2 cheapo Aldi sleeping bags instead?

    • Exactly. I would rather double wrap.

  • Thanks got the 700 also 40% off
