The Alienware m16 R2 RTX 4070 is currently a surprisingly decent $2,610.30 from Dell, but if you generate a TechRadar 13% Dell coupon code and apply it at checkout you can get it for $2,269.96 (13% off + $1 rounding adjustment).

Intel Ultra 7 155H CPU
RTX 4070 8GB GPU
2560 x 1600, G-Sync, 240Hz, 3ms, 100% sRGB display
16GB (2x8GB) DDR5 RAM
1TB NVMe SSD
Thunderbolt 4
90Wh battery

I track Dell prices for TechRadar and the m16 R2 with a RTX 4070 recently dropped to $2,910.60 from $3,111 (well, it dropped to $2,898.50 then rose to $2,910.60) then just this week dropped to $2,610.30.

After using the 13% off coupon it becomes $2,270.97. Note that Dell sometimes rounds weirdly in the checkout, so it might be a slightly different price, like $2,269.96.

I posted this same deal almost a year back here on Ozbargain, and it was $2,509.42.

There is no 32GB RAM version unfortunately, but not too hard to DIY upgrade if needed.

You can also get the m16 R2 RTX 4060 for $2,111.15 but IMO the 4070 is well worth the slight extra.

The same code generated also works on the other Alienware machines at Dell and is valid until July 4.

Alienware m16 R2 RTX 4080 Ultra 9 32GB RAM 1TB SSD for $3,303.56 (was $3797.20)

Except $2.2k is roughly the price of an RTX 4070 laptop anyway. Also, just a U7-155 H chip and 16gb ram.

There certainly have been RTX 4070 laptops this cheap, and cheaper, but currently it's slim pickings.

You can get the MSI Sword with RTX 4070 for ~$2,000, but that has a 1920 x 1200 display and a lower TGP.

What ones are you looking at?

The annoying with the Dell is the 16GB of RAM, and no 32GB version, and there are some decent 32GB machines for not too much more.

Having tested the m16 R2 for APC Magazine, it is slightly nicer than a lot of other gaming laptops around this price.

Isn't 16GB RAM a bit low these days?

I added 16GB to my work Dell 7480 laptop, 8 to 24GGB and it generally hovers around 12-14GB with a few instances of SAP, browser and a couple of spreadsheets (Win10).

OS will grab as much as it can AFAIK

Yeah no 32GB version which sucks. Easy to upgrade if needed.

    • That's what I thought. 32GB should be a start point for 2025, not to mention it is a gaming laptop. If it has to be 16GB total for whatever reason, I would rather they use 1*16GB and leave the other slot empty for future upgrade. Afterall, at least it is not soldered.

        Can confirm.

Recently I had to upgrade from 16GB to 32GB since 16GB isn't cutting it.

  • +1

Yeah, at this price point, I would expect 32gb ram standard …

Yep that's decent. Dell refurbs can be hit and miss in my experience though. The G16 has a few differences but it's a good laptop.

    • A refurb for virtually the same price? No thanks.

  • Looks like a decent system, thanks OP. But the 16Gb RAM is a very poor offering. No way anyone should be buying a laptop these days with such little memory. Very short-sighted (CHEAP!) for Dell to be peddling this as an acceptable solution with Win11.

duh you make me sad just bought lenovo yoga 2 months ago, 16gb soldered - but then i dont game or running VM or things like that, i like to have many chrome tabs and betterbird email client and moving files between folders things like that

      • "…but then i dont game…"

Are you lost? This is supposed to be a gaming laptop.

        • Ah so 16 ok for me yey happy again

  • How is the warranty? Only covered in AU or global? Tired to search on their pages, but nothing obvious,

    • +1

Good question. Looking at the Dell website there seems to be technical support (but not parts and labour) global coverage if overseas less than 6 months, and over 6 months you can transfer the warranty.

That said, it seems highly dependent on which country, and parts and labour may or may not be covered. It reads like the paid Dell upgraded warranties have better support after transfer, but you'd probably need to contact Dell and ask about your specific circumstances.

      • Sure thing, thanks heaps!

However, OOS now, any chance we could get some more stocks before 30th June? Thanks

        • Hard to know sorry. I'm checking the stock daily so I'll let you know if it's back in stock. Or if there's something similar for sale.

        • No new stock for any of the OOS Alienware laptops, so I don't think these will be back unfortunately!

          • @Prong: Sure thanks heaps for keeping an eye on it.

I also watch those pages as well, and feel the same sadly :(
