Keep your old GTX/RTX cards if you intend to play any old favourite games with PHYSX at ultra settings maximum fps.

Small amount of games actually affected mainly old batman arkham games and borderlands 2

And it can be disabled if necessary.

PhysX has been made open source, so perhaps there'll be a translation layer at some point, but NVIDIA has moved onto ML-accelerated physics models.

64-bit PhysX and software PhysX are completely unaffected. The change was removing native 32-bit application support, not specifically PhysX.

    • Honest question - how important is PhysX as a visual enhancement in games? Is it similar in perceived visual impact as Ray Tracing is?

      • Like any tool, it varies, but mostly no.

It's mainly for older games that you want to play at their peak performance. You see elements like smoke, water and explosion behaviour with PhysX .
Imagine 10 years from now Nvidia gives up on ray tracing and stops making gpu with RT cores. Today's games will not look like what they suppose to look like.
Remember Nvidia logo "The way it's meant to be played"?
        Now it's just BS.
