      Whats everyones vieews on counterfits?

Rather an unbranded version than a copy

        • +2

          I honestly don’t understand why you wouldn’t.

Even if you assume big corporations aren’t exploiting workers in China (which is a stretch), buying a replica still supports an independent seller, often someone trying to make a living in a tough economy.

Worried about quality? Some of these replicas are literally 1:1. I’ve worn them, and people constantly compliment my shoes. They can’t tell the difference, and neither will you.

And I’ll never forget my professor standing in front of the class, talking about that old ‘You wouldn’t steal a car’ anti-piracy ad. He laughed and said, ‘If someone offered me a copy, I’d take it.’ And honestly, same.

And reps are next big trend. It's gotten so big that people are starting to complain it's crowding the scene.

So I honestly don't know what your point is.

          • @MomentOfTruss: It's actually cringe the lengths people go to stand out lately and I blame social media for that. I saw this "full hectic wallah cuz" at the Airport decked out in fake Moncler. I have no doubt in my mind it was the China special because I have never seen what he was wearing on their website. Those who have actual wealth wear designer clothing with minimal to no branding, whereas the opposite applies to those you can't afford the real thing. Whilst I understand your point, yes, it is just a bit of material with a brand attached to it, I personally could not wear counterfeit clothing because not everyone is oblivious to this.

            • @Maths Debater: Have you considered that people actually like the designs?

Personally, I love the aesthetic of Gallery Dept and if I can get that same look for $10? Hell yeah, I’m in.

I’ve bought $600 shoes that barely lasted a year. That’s why I switched I got tired of spending hundreds just to replace them again.

Meanwhile, a $50 version of the same show has lasted me over three years.

And honestly, if they break? Who cares,.I’m still $550 ahead.

For me, there’s no real difference, just I don't see so why should I pay $600 when I get it for $50? Even, if I have money, doesn't mean I will mindlessly spend it.

          • @MomentOfTruss: I'm suggesting that, unless I am being sponsored, I would rather wear a $30 equivalent without branding.

            • @Supercool: I mean, if that’s what you meant, that’s fair I get the whole “hating on brands” thing. But honestly, a lot of people prefer reps these days. Personally it's about the deal and the just wearing what I like without paying a fortune for something that doesn't last.

You got a deal where people can buy 700 gsm down vests for 30 or less, and you haven't posted it? What sort of Ozbargainer are you exactly?

      • +4

There are several places you buy them:

        Tmall, 1688, Weidian, and Szwego.

Reddit has a community dedicated to these items.

Once you've selected your items, all you need is a shipping agent. Shipping typically costs:

~$60 for 10kg with standard delivery (around 4 weeks).

~$150 for express delivery (about 1 week).

So add $2-$10 for each item.

        Estimated Item Prices:

        Shoes: $10–$40

        Bags: $10–$60

        Vests: $20–$40

        T-shirts: $5–$10

I'm anti-corporate and this just makes me feel like I'm sticking it to them.

it is a good deal, but nah, still can’t justify the price

    • This is my full food bill for a fortnight. Sorry I am not the owner of RM Williams so this is repulsive to those who work. I would rather wear my 2016 Japanese sumo size puffer I paid 4000 Yen at a recycle clothing place in Osaka. Checked it, Oh wait it has North Face printed on it.
      Is that good?

  • +15

You may think it's overpriced but keep in mind that it has the words "North" and "Face" written on it

Why would I want to look like Dan Andrews?

  • +4

Nice life preserver, dork thinks he's gonna drown.

  • +3

    This really is RRP

  • I think there's also 15% cashback with shopback which brings it under $200?

  • Only worth around $100, which is what I paid for mine with friends and family discount a few years ago

  • Lol the price

  • dunno why, but feel like they are meant to go with this

  • For that price I'd expect it to have arms!

    • If they cost you arms, why do you need sleeves?

  • Just get a Macpac uber halo vest, they are great and fold down tiny.
