Klein Tools Self-Adjusting Wire Stripper and Cutter $27 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass) @ Bunnings

540

Thanks to Price Hipster

I bought this at $40 last year and found them pretty good for stripping wire for electronic projects and should be okay for electrical work too.

Blurb:
. Wire Stripper with stripping head that adjusts to strip:
- 10-20 AWG solid,
- 12-22 AWG stranded,
- 12/2 and 14/2 cable (all sizes) and other non-metallic (type NM) sheathed cable

. Adjustable stopper to control the length of the core strip
. Tensioning thumb wheel allows precise stripping of smaller-gauge wire.
. Convenient wire cutter in handle

The Klein Tools Self-Adjusting Wire Stripper / Cutter takes the guesswork out of stripping solid, stranded and Romex® wire. As the name suggests, this tool features a self-adjusting stripping head for quick, precise wire stripping. It's especially useful in panels and other places where different types and sizes of wire are present. Perfect for HVAC applications.

  • They price matched these for me today with this company.

    • Ahh - that's why they dropped.

      • They've been this price for about a week at Bunnings. They were this price on Amazon but went back to full price yesterday I think.

Also at Amazon for same price https://amzn.asia/d/85Zf0mI

Great reviews. Got a similar cheaper but pretty average quality one from autobarn 3 years ago,

it works sometitmes, but a bit hit and miss. Will try this one.

      Thanks OP.

Was going to say, I have the Temu special one and I'm actually quite impressed with the quality. I've used it in 1.5mm and 2.5mm cable with no issues.

Been using the $20 Craftright one for years with no complaints however misplace it from time to time when working on car stuff like intercooler sprayers / kill-switches / car audio, or electrical projects inside like Mega Drive / CRT modding. Handy to have 2, one for garage, one for house.

    • Foldy stripper - nice

    • I was thinking this to order as well but not sure the quality.

      • its cheap enough to not care imo, lol. i got the same one and will let you know how it performs when i receive it.

also they got similar wire strippers like the klein for $10

My teeth and Stanley knife are still going strong.

I am sure the dentist bill will be more than $27, lol

    • Maybe not the wire however..

  • Got a similar workpro one that they are now selling for $19.99 at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08YDCTHMS

    • For $7 extra Klein is a Solid product.

However Some says Temu, Ali Express clones are of reasonable quality for the 1/3 of the cost

  • Would this be better at a few bucks more?

    • I doubt it. My current pair of Klein wire strippers has lasted about 2 1/2 years of daily use and they're still going strong.

      • I am planning to buy this for multiple DIY projects including CCTV and security system installation. How versatile is this for multipurpose use? Can this be also used as a network cable stripper?

  • I like strippers ….

  • Expired. Should have followed Oz bargain mentality, buy first and think later !

I was planning to buy this for multiple DIY projects including CCTV and security system installation.

Was not sure how versatile this was for multipurpose use including to strip network cable!

Yes pity it has expired. These will do network cable - not the outer sheath, but will take the insulation off the twisted pairs inside. I was doing an ESP32 project and they were fine to strip some small connecting wire out of a cat 6 cable.

  • I tried wire strippers a couple of times, but just found them more troublesome and taking up space in the kit when I could do the same with sidecutters and flushcuts.
With a bit of practice, they're superfluous.
