    What?

  • interesting. ~$36 cheaper than AOC if priced matched.

    • +6

Yeah otherwise no deal, just get it form AOC instead

      • +2

officeworks is now $1,517.00, so no deal for this.

Really like MacBook hardware, but MacOS let's it down.

    • +1

Respectfully disagree. Yes it does take a bit of getting used to but if you know how to use the trackpad to its full potential, it's a slick and efficient OS. It's not perfect but this not bad either

      • +2

Two things always kept me go back to Windows. 1- Clipboard manager - this has now been added to MacOS 26 a d 2- Ability to drag files to apps on the dock. I use this feature a lot in Windows to drag files to my Chrome icon on the taskbar so I can upload my file to SharePoint.

        • +1

Clipboard manager shouldn't be an issue on either OS - Windows has Win + V out of the box, Mac has Raycast etc.

      • It used to be top of the game many eons ago. Then windows made so many improvements that MacOS is now lagging.

My many 16" MBPs were riddled with issues such as GPU panic, butterfly keyboard, Flexgate screen, overheating, flickering lines.
I mean, spending 5k every 2 years ish and getting hardware issues where in some cases Apple refuses to fix?

I've given up after 15 years of macs.

        • +1

MBPs between 2016-2019 are known to be problematic, I wouldn't buy one at any price tbh. the Apple Silicon-based ones though are pretty good.

The trackpad is the worst aspect. The tracking is horrible.

        • Nah, my M1 air has a horrible keyboard. I use a $5 Kmart mouse with it.

    • +5

The trackpad alone is worth it over any other laptop.

Compare a premium windows laptop today, not crappy office issued one. You'll pleasently surprised.

        • i have a mac and a PC, and i must say some of the new PCs with oled screens do close the gap in hardware. think it comes down to what apps you run most and if they are on mac or windows.

          • -1

@garage sale: To me it's the hinge and durability. The macbook feels like a solid tank, while windows laptops generally feel like a delicate flower

      • Hardware is nice, software is… Special.

      Agree with finder the worst.

    • M1 or M2 + Asahi Linux.

      • Not feature-complete though. Such as no display output.
        Very impressive community effort nonetheless.

The biggest difference for me since getting the m4 air 15 is everything is ready to go as soon as I open the lid. My xps dell would take 5 mins loading and need charging daily.

      • Probably you are referring to old Dell XPS. New Windows laptops with Windows Hello is surprisingly smooth and swift as soon as you open the lid. Microsoft is really pushing the ARM platform for power efficiency. Qualcomm now (the Snapdragon X) still have room of improvement but wait till later this year when Nvidia releases their first PC ARM-based CPU (N1X) that would be a game changer.

  • Why is the OW price match unobtainable? Is digidirect grey import?

Edit: Because it's gone down in price there. But how about the 512gb? https://www.digidirect.com.au/apple-macbook-air-13-with-m4-c… Can that be price matched?

    • Yup. I just matched a 10/10/24/512

OW is now $1517 as above. However Domayne is offering $1547 with 10% ($154) eGift card. I think the gift card can be used at Harvey Norman and Joyce Mayne.

If needing a USB hub/ mouse or other accessories with your new laptop this works out to be much cheaper than AOC.

Bought my first Mac (Air M3) last year.

After using it, there's no Windows laptop for get for my own money.

The only 2 things that annoy me is no right click and no delete key, other than that, what a great machine unless you need windows specific software.

    • +2

Hey mate, are you referring to "no right click" on the trackpad? Never been a problem for me, I always enable "click or tap with two fingers" under "secondary click" in trackpad settings. I guess it's not a physical right click but it simulates it really well.

Awesome, I'll give it a go when I get home tonight. Cheers!

    • +1

There's a literal "delete" key below the power button on the top right.

      • The delete key is a (Windows) backspace key not a (Windows) delete key.

I know you can press Fn + Delete

        • to delete I press Cmd+delete key. Works a charm and it's second nature now,

  • How does it become 1305?

    • buying gift cards to the value of the macbook

      • That still doesnt bring it down to 1305.

        • +1

If you could have paid $1450.94 with Price Beat at Officeworks (before OW lowered their price)

  • Where's the best place to buy gift cards currently for officeworks?

  • +1

Domayne will price match Office Works plus you get the 10% back. Still waiting for a cheaper deal though…

    • Just checked with Domayne (online) didn't offer me the price match as it's "below market value". Might get a different response in person.

      • +1

strange they said they would accept it when i did an online chat this morning, maybe try again with another agent.

  • JB Hifi offered me one for $1501.84 when I asked if they would include the 10% back in gift cards via chat :P I changed my mind and instead got the refurb M1 deal since it will be mostly for browsing web and streaming.

    https://direct.jbhifi.com.au/AU255-48588H

    deal expires 11:59PM!

    • Hey mate, your JB chat requires your mobile number to see. message me if that's okay!!
