  Wow, $399 for a capsule machine. I thought they practically gave them away to get you hooked on expensive coffee pods.

    Nespresso doesn't own the right to the old school pods anymore, i.e. any company can make them - for example starbucks (sold @ woolies).

    The money is on the new pods - of which is exclusive to Nespresso (with their new machines) - supposedly similar to American long black or something along those lines.

  Same processing method - it's all pushing water through grounds. You're paying for the fancy nozzle. Nothing wrong with pod coffee for me btw - great for a superfast fix on the way out the door in the morning. Does that make me a 'pod snob' or a 'pod fanboy'? My Mum swore by International Roast and thought Moccona granules was a luxurious treat.

  I bought this machine before Covid and it is still running. It is reliable, just needs some clean and descale from time to time.

  If you're paying this much and can be bothered a proper espresso machine would give you better coffee and less landfill and may even be cheaper on offer.
