7 Month Old Brain Games

Our 7 month baby boy is very curious and spends hours unravelling woven fabrics or trying to pull apart electronics (mobile phone, toy piano, etc).

We feel we should buy him toys or things that can keep him busy in a more useful way, like is there such a thing as brain games for babies this age?

Any help is appreciated!

Buy anything you want as long as it's physical. Don't buy digital games on a screen, that won't help him learn. Personally, babies love pulling things apart but aren't good at putting them together

Provide activities that will help him learn new skills suitable for his age. Use baby milestones to help guide different activities (which may or may not include toys) you can provide. For example if he is currently enjoying unravelling woven fabric it sounds like he might be learning the pincer grip. There's plenty of activities that be used to help him learn it. Something as simple as giving him a few peas in a bowl on his highchair could be one 'activity', and he will also learn self feeding and chewing and swallowing at the same time. Another one: grab a whisk and put some cut up strips of a kitchen sponge or maybe pom poms between the wires and let him pull them out one by one.

    Our cat does that too.

Take him to a toy library, and expose him to all the toys suitable in his age range.See what works for his mind. His face will tell you.If in doubt, take whatever it is away 'peak excitement' and see what happens.

Also a great social experience for parents and kids. And it keeps libraries alive.
