139 for a toaster is crazy

You're purely paying for the brand and the design. They're just as plastic-y as any other toaster, same with the kettle. One advantage is that should you have any issue within two years, they send you a replacement with not many questions asked.

      • I wouldn't say purely. A rental I was in had one of these but the 4 slice version. Was easily the best toaster I've ever used. Quick and even toast every time and fit larger bread/buns easily.

Worth it? Still no, but I liked using it for free.

      • Imagine paying high prices for something labelled SMEG.

It must also be taking the butter from the fridge and applying it to the toast

      • Now that id pay for

My Kmart 2 Slice Toaster in White for $7.50 is still going strong after 7 years! If it ever dies im taking it back and getting it replaced! Thats the ozbargain way!

They also have a 2 Slice Window Toaster for $24 on clearance - it has a window! which is way more impressive then a stupid SMEG logo!

-Update I bought the Windowed Toaster - Tonight is going to be Lit! :)

    • Will Kmart replace if the item dies after 7 years? The warranty period is only 12 months.

      • Technically the dont have to, but in the past they were pretty flexible, when I was younger I used to heat Pizza in mums toaster and kept blowing it up, she would simply return it and play the old the receipt game

        • Yeah I think that was a while back, Kmart is getting pretty stringent now and don't refund/replace anything without a rcepit.

          • @mkh1991: They will usually issue a store credit if can't provide receipt.

      • If you really want to…
Buy an identical new one @Kmart, use for a while, return old one as faulty in new box with new receipt.

I have this toaster. It's pretty slow in comparison to our previous one.

More time to admire the Smeg badge no doubt.

  • what does it do that this for $20 doesn't ?
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Russell-Hobbs-Carlton-Toaster-Chro…

    • If it's anything like the Russel Hobbs "Brooklyn" 4 slice model I bought recently, it will be shite.
Only has one job and it fails at that due to the fact it can't turn bread to toast evenly and also seems to just not bother with the last centimetre at the top. Will be getting a free trip back to the shop for a refund this weekend.

    TSF01GRAU
    Power (V / Hz / W / Amp) 950W / 220-240V / 50/60Hz
Yeah 950W is too low for fast browning of bread.

  • Still use an early 1970's shiny chrome & black popup Sunbeam ToasterMatic
    Considered a classic!
Bought new by relative & passed on to me🍞
Only required 1 minor adjustment in 50 years

  • with that text style they should just print T E S L A on it and sell it just for people to ragebait.

    also smegma. 😂

insert had an argument with a toaster statement here
