Hoka Mach X 2: Propulsive Speed for Daily Training and Tempo Runs
The Hoka Mach X 2 is your ultimate companion for daily training and speedwork.
Whether you're tackling tempo runs, intervals, or high-mileage days, the Mach X 2 is built to deliver lightweight speed, superior propulsion, and enduring comfort.

Mach X 2 is Inspired by the race-focused geometry of the Cielo X1. The Mach X 2 brings bold performance to everyday runners. At its core lies a Pebax® plate with extended winglets, a design innovation that enhances propulsion and stability. This plate works in harmony with a dual-layer midsole, sandwiching it between highly resilient PEBA foam and supportive EVA foam for a responsive yet cushioned ride.

The combination of the plate and midsole creates a seamless transition from heel to toe, amplifying energy return via the plate and providing an aggressive toe-off. So if you're chasing a new personal best or fine-tuning your tempo runs, the Mach X 2 delivers a smooth and propulsive experience.

Mach X 2 features

  • an extra-breathable woven upper that offers lightweight comfort and support.
  • race-inspired comfortable collar enhancing comfort by reducing bulk around the ankle,
  • a gusseted tongue keeps everything in place during high-intensity efforts.
  • highly resilient PEBA midsole foam which provides soft, high-rebound cushioning, with the Pebax® plate and rocker geometry
  • reflective detailing for an extra layer of safety for early-morning or evening sessions
  • 5mm heel-to-toe drop
  • weight—just 226g

  • That is cheap. The first Mach X turned out to be pretty good for me.

Margaret, have you experienced any issues with the upper rubbing against your Achilles?

    • Who is Margaret?

Margbear = Margaret, the knowledgeable proprietor at Runners Shop.

          Why is she a bear?

          • +1

@jv: If a bear runs in the woods, does it make a noise?

    • +2

No complaints re achilles lodged instore. I havent worn the X2, am still in my origninal X. Feels comfortable enough around the achilles has the cushion bumper in the heelcup. Welcome to try and send back if you have a concern. New version has a bit more cushion than the original.
      cheers M

    Hoka sucks lol

Ugly clown shoes. If you practice proper form you shouldn't need marshmallows strapped to the bottom of your feet.

      • +1

That's a nice opinion you have there. Looking forward to you telling every elite Marathon runner that they aren't running with proper form

        • +2

Those elite marathon runners who receive sponsor to wear whatever shoe they're told to, so businesses can convince others to buy them.

    • -1

Yea, I bought one from Kogan and it's the worst ever.

      • +2

        bought one

I think they work better when you get a pair.

        • +2

You have clearly never participated in competitive hopping

          • @jv: Only in a amateur league where we use two feet.

Great shoes. Improved my PB on my usual 6km hilly run significantly (2 or 3 minutes) compared to my old Asics Gel Nimbus. Need heal lock lacing to hold the heal in place for me. Comfortable enough. Would not use as a casual sneaker.

  • Good find, wish they had a Size 9.

  • Not great if your feet are on the wider side, forefoot is very narrow.

Another thing to be wary off, the drop according to Run Repeat is 11mm rather than the stated 5mm from Hoka.

  • Is it wide body?
