More Electricity Price Increases

While the rich, including EV owners, Solar panel and battery owners, just coast along on their next subsidy, the rest of us just cop the next increase, and keep voting the same way.

It is beyond ridiculous that winter house heating is now more expensive than charging an EV.

You're banging on about facts and yet deny there can be more than one driver of high energy prices. We knew you can't do science. You can't do maths either, apparently.
BTW I love how you anoint (like Trump) facts you agree with with superlatives like This entirely factual article. LOL. Pick that cherry, dude. Why don't you compare Chalmers to Taylor? He's still finger painting.

I have solar - price has gone up about 30% - 10% price, rest FIT - certainly not coasting. I'm paying the same as what I paid before I got solar. Energy companies have no interest in supporting renewable energy. I'm investigating battery options but can't even get a call-back atm.

MessyG wummed it up in an earlier post with "Anyway stop blaming people who partake in the capitalist exercise of spending more in the hope they will one day spend less. I can't think of many who have made back the cost of their panels and battery and are in some net negative energy cost space"
When all the subsidies disappear and "Road User Tax" takes over from Excise, there will be weeping and grashing of teeth with anguish that their god has abandoned them

      • Between 2019-2022 I was paying $0 or getting credits and the system was paid off by then. No chance these days, like the housing market. I see small reductions in my bill but it must be brutal for some others. Probably only going to get worse.

  • Australian dream is over. Wages have been the same the past 10 years. But a kilo apple is 7 dollars now, tomatoes 12 dollars, compare the prices of playstation, latest iphones to 2018-2019 prices. Everything at least doubled. Power of purchase is (profanity) up.

It's all about population levels. The actual rat race model.

  • We undersand more coal power stations solve this, yea? That this the cost of going renewable? I'm all for renewable, but let's not pretend the switch is without sacrifice…

    • Never heard of gas?

      • Gas good too.

        • Why would you even consider coal with all the benefits of gas as,per on demand ,combined with renewables?
Every sector of govt, both major parties have betrayed us on energy for 40 years, just to flog cheap gas to appease and enrichen America. It's still happening with other nations chipping in and laughing at us.Watch Santos join the scam.

          • @Protractor: Because there's a coal power plant where I live and it's great.

            • @The Wololo Wombat: And somewhere else is a coal mine that pisses off ppl in that area.Drains aquifers, the bottom line sponsored by tax payers in multiple ways. It affects workers lungs, spreads massive amounts of dust and affects the ecosystem around it for decades, and more.Just a few other things you can like.

An odd thread for a Victorian to start considering the price rises here are less than 1%.

We get to reap the benefits of an aggressive renewables program meanwhile the northern states continue to pay for expensive coal power that keeps breaking down.

Apparently dodos laid odd shaped eggs

I'm in Victoria and my feed in just dropped from 2c to 0c.
So I've always tried to use as much as I produce otherwise I'm giving it away for free.
I time things like the clothes dryer and washer for daytime and have reverse cycle inverter ducted aircon which I've automated to turn on and off depending on how sunny it is. Very efficient and heats a 2 storey house using about 2kw (plus 700w to drive the blower)

If any of that was true, it would be on ABC or Guardian.
Alternatively, Allahbanese's foreign policy is totally and solely driven by two seats in Westerm Sydney.
But don't worry, his incwedible statesmanship, (just ask him) ably supported by Plenty Wrong, and Kevvy will see the rest of the world fall into line

You know Tehran is the saddest case in the Islamic world.
It was once entirely westernised, and photo's of women on the street could be Paris or New York in 1970's.
And the locals are praying for freedom

          • @Clickbait: The Trumps want and will get middle east real estate.
Note the silence of the Saudis

@Clickbait: It was so woke even before the rest of the world even knew what woke was about.
But the religious leaders got their way: A reverse cultural revolution just as Allah supposed to want it.
Now them ballistics got to be popped or taken away from them!

Screw renewables..if the government cares about so called climate change they wouldn't be selling all our coal overseas…

It's all a hoax and we as consumers are paying through the roof

Yep, username checks out… It's all those rich people in their electric cars and solar panel having houses ruining it…

Oh, and just to save JV from saying it… "It's all Dan's fault…"

Sorry , The Mods informed me that I had made a duplicate post.
So rather than waste your Time, I deleted it

      • and if it wasn't a duplicate, you still would've wasted people's time.

What are you doing here if it's a waste of time, or is that rhetorical

I just got an email from my electricity supplier red energy

My daily "service to property charge" is going from 73.96c per day to 104.335c per day. Is that right? That's a 41% increase!!!

  • Are there any good energy cash back deals to swap with these days? Would love to swap ours to a cheaper rate while taking advantage of a cash back.
