Haha is it normal to munch on a whole packet tim tam at once

    • +1

Sounds like you need a packet of Tim Tams that never runs out.

      • Haha yes like in the commercial,, like with the aladdin sort of character

    • +1

      No, its not.

      • I know right? One whole packet? I mean what is this guy on? A diet?

        • I have read comments here that they ate a whole tub of ice cream in one go, so i wouldnt be surprised ;)

          • @John Doh: If they didn't want me to eat a whole tube Ben & Jerry's wouldn't be half price.

2 for $12 now at Cole's they obviously have nothing to sell redoing specials week after week .

  • How do you already know specials for this coming Wednesday? When I follow the link, I only have this week's catalogue available

    • Yes i wonder aswell, i usually see weds catologue like 5pm monday or Tuesday

      • +2

Or those who “hack” the systems. I’m the former of course, I don’t participate in malicious activity unlike others around here….

      • Nice whats the pay like haha i heard it wqs cash in hand

        • +1

Not any more, also now our movements are tracked via their app. Only good for exercise, money is rubbish.

    • Insider. of course.

  • I’m curious whether (rich) people buy these staples for the original price?

    • +1

If they did, they were no longer rich..

    • I hope so! It means that Coles can afford to make them half price for us. Whereas Aldi consistently sell TimTams for $4.49

      • +1

Coles doesn't "afford" anything. As part of their contract, arnotts has to agree to foot the bill when coles puts their products on special. Coles doesnt lose out here.

    • +4

No, its actually the poor people.

I see it all the time, they want tim tams right now, or they only want kettle crisps when the red rocks right next to them are half price.

      • +1

Yes I agree i find rich people actually more frugal and money smart

        • So people who can manage money and make wise decisions are rich? That's unthinkable.

      • +2

Or they buy a 400g box of the same cereal at regular price when the 700g box is on 1/2 price special and costs less than the 400g…

      • Sometimes alsp people willing to spend more in general at times due to convenience and not having to wait months for a sale and stocking pantry

        • Fair enough. As if I had alsp I wouldn't be that frugal since life is short.

      • Maybe the poor people are in fact the rich people and we are the poor people

  • +5

Tim Tams full price $6 a packet now, talk about price gauging using the inflation excuse. Soon they will be $1 per biscuit if sugar tax gets added.

    • +1

Cheaper to buy timtams in UK or even Japan then here

      • How much is it over there?

    • Wait until you hear about the packaging (plastic) tax going to be introduced soon.

    • I havent bought timtams since they went up by 50%. Half price sale used to be $2 just a couple of years ago, now its $3?

  • The way the price hike is going, it'll be RRP $20 a tub in 2 years time.

No wonder, there are ice cream machines on sale so regularly these days.

    • But when you look at the price of cream and other premium ingredients, it turns out there is very little savings by making your own.

Only really makes sense if you want some exotic flavour you can't buy or have an allergy and need to leave out a common ingredient…

      • Not really. The ingredients are not cheap, but you can surely make multiple tubs. It turns out to be at least 1/4 the RRP.

        • +2

No one in their right mind pays RRP though, I've always only bought at 1/2 price.

To get a similar consistency to commercial ice cream (something you need if you make multiple tubs and store in the freezer), the only recipes that worked for me contain a lot of eggs. Eggs + cream means the cost comes pretty close to this 1/2 price special.

  • Anyone know if they have up and go protein half price?
